My Media Center Update - Adds incorrect Firewall Port

#1

Post by pancho » Mon Oct 28, 2013 7:00 pm

Hello! I have been running My Media Center 13.2.26.1062 since it's release & have experienced no issues accessing the interface. I upgraded to the latest version today, 13.10.20.199 and can longer access the software. It appears that the latest update (13.10.20.199) incorrectly sets the TCP firewall port to ZERO instead of the correct port of 5832.

I cannot amend/adjust the CData incoming firewall port rules (created by this installation), I receive the error 'This is a predefined rule and some of it's properties cannot be modified').

How do I proceed to get this working again?

Thanks.

I have upgrade 3 different computers (one running Windows 7, another Windows 8, and my personal machine running Window 8.1). After the update, the port rule is zero'd out on all. This is not OS specific.

I saw some issues with the latest build too.

The ports were set to 1024 in the services config program for some reason after updating it. Firewall was OK though.

Create a new rule and delete the other rule. Or just use the default port if possible.

I have tried to delete the existing rule, but will not allow me to do so. I have disabled the Ceton CData (CData SVC-In) rule and created another indentical rule using port TCP 5832, but still no luck. I even tried disabling the firewall completely, but still could not reach My Media center.

My next step was to uninstall the latest version, manually deleted the Ceton CData entries in the Windows firewall (they were left there) and rolled back to version 13.2.26.1013. After the install I verified & it re-created the following windows firewall rules:

Ceton CData (CDataPublisher-In) - UDP 5832
Ceton CData (CData Svc-In) - TCP 0

The TCP port is still showing ZERO.

Suggestions on where to go from here..
