Way OT (no water cooler?): Multiple Monitors & Desktops

#1

Not sure where to put this, but I wanted to ask about multiple monitors and multiple desktops.

At work I have a laptop with 2 monitors, all good there.
I know there are (and I probably have used) programs to create multiple desktops.

What I'd like is for my laptop to use the 2 monitors, and when I un-dock it (and it now only has one monitor) I'd like it to launch a second desktop to take the place of the second monitor. As such, my widgets, shortcuts, folders, etc. would still be on "the second monitor" even when un-docked.

Anybody have any ideas? I've tried googling, and it is a tough concept to search. Normally other computer goons just know and can advise on the "right" way to do it.

Thanks,
Andy

The section you were looking for is called "The Green Button Lounge" I believe that is the OT area here.

Guess I'm blind. Glossed over it at least 3 times.
