I'm afraid Linksys has stopped support for these extenders and the update site has been shutdown a while ago. Hence the DNS-adjustments you'll have to make to keep the extender operational.

I have never done DNS adjustments to my Linksys devices and I own 4 of them! There was a short period of time where Linksys had a problem with their servers. It was quickly resolved, once Linksys knew about the problem effecting this old product.
Have you tried connecting them to the internet and attempt to upgrade them?

I bought a DMA2200 a few months ago and had to do the DNS change to it. The update server is gone. What was included in newer firmware?

My Linksys extenders still connect to the Internet - no DNS hack required. The server is still up for me. I'm in the southeastern USA... maybe it only affects some people?
I don't know what version they are running. It's possible that the OP has the latest already.

My Linksys extender will stop working after about 2 minutes being too busy trying to find the update server. Setting DNS to an invalid address solves this issue. I'm in the Netherlands but I don't know if Linksys looks for a certain update server which is bound by region...
