Backing UP to move to a new CPU

#1

Post by RDI » Sat Nov 02, 2013 4:49 pm

If I am going to movie my Ceton 6 PCI-E to a new (Custom Built) Computer,
Where do I find the list of TV shows & channels to move to the new machine?

Anything else I should watch out for?

Your old copy-protected recordings won't play on the new computer.

You are more than likely looking at doing a clean setup, including repairing the tuners with your TV provider.

I don't really understand the question. Are you talking about transferring the guide data and scheduled recordings to the new machine?

The CableCARD is paired with the tuner, not the PC.

This is handy info:

Recording history is a big one, and will prevent your new HTPC recording all of the shows you have already been recorded that are in your recordings list.

I have used WMC Backup with great results:

However it doesn't back up recording history. Anyone know how to do that? STC's link above discusses it but I didn't see a solution.

Oh, OK. I assumed that was just the manual method for recording schedule back-up. Didn't realize that did recording history too, thanks!
