Windows 8 to 8.1 - USB tuners not recognised
I have upgraded From Win 8 to 8.1, now none of the tuners are recognised in media centre.
All Tuners worked in windows compatibility mode before upgrade.
They all work in 8.1 but not in windows media centre. Any help would be appreciated.

Did you try re-running the WMC tuner setup wizard?

What tuner are you using? Is it officially supported in 8.1?

Upgraded my WMC system from 8 to 8.1 on Friday. The system has two Ceton tuners - PCI and USB. The PCI tuner was recognized immediately - but the USB tuner was not originally visible.
I dropped out of Media Center, brought up the Ceton diagnostics and confirmed no USB tuner visible. I then removed the cablecard and reinserted it - and the tuner appeared.
And it seems to be working fine since then.
Only other problem during the upgrade - lost all of my scheduled recordings - had to reschedule them - plus some of the "library" settings (had to re-add folders to the library). However, previously recorded protected content was still visible - so the upgrade didn't break the copy protection.

My USB tuner (Hauppauge HVR900H) works fine - both on a fresh install of Win 8.1 and on a system upgraded from 8 to 8.1

I now have two twin tuners recognised after some sort of windows update today.
No channels were found in the tv channel scan, even though I can watch all channels
in the tuners own software.

On the systems I've upgraded to 8.1, I've had a few devices and applications that have had difficulty - and uninstalling and then reinstalling the devices and apps seems to fix the problems - at least so far...

I just had that problem. I have an ATI tuner that stopped working after upgrading to 8.1. nothing I did made it visible, although I could up plug the USB cable and hear it connect and disconnect.
I had to go to device manager, select show hidden devices, install it (I had it delete the files) unplug it from the USB, plug it back in and reload the drivers. Then it appeared and I had to run the tuner setup again.

Failed scan is misleading, you can turn on these channels by going to Settings / TV / Guide / Edit Channels and you can manually check themandysmac88 wrote:I now have two twin tuners recognised after some sort of windows update today.
