Trying to find a couple programs

#1

Post by trooper11 » Fri Oct 14, 2011 2:48 pm

I am in the process of setting up another htpc but I hit a wall trying to find a couple programs I want to use. The first is media center studio, which I use heavily to customize WMC's front page. The second is MakeMKV to rip my bluray discs. In both cases, the author's websites are down and I cant find other sources for them. Unfortunately I dont have access to the install files that I used on my other htpc, so if anyone has active links to these, it would be very helpful.

Either MCS has finished or the site is down for maintenance. I suspect the former due to the lack of any activity for a long time unfortunately as this was a truly great product.

I have a link for you where you might be able to still download the program if you want it here:

http://www.4shared.com/file/cVGSNzcp/Me ... _Make.html

and a torrent link here:

Bear in mind I have not verified either link so you will need to run the appropriate Virus/Spyware scans and I have no idea if these links provide a working version.

I tried the Media Center Studio download link but it does not work, it just launches the usual Launching Application dialog you see when installing MCS but then says it cant download it. MCS is a web app install, I've never seen a local .exe or .msi file for it!

So presumably this means MCS is now properly DEAD ???

I need to install it on a new HTPC.

Ok Guys... Trying to help ya out here.. Not sure if this will work or not but here is a Copy of the Advent folder with the .exe for Media Center Studio.. You can download the zip from my skydrive here along with a few themes I saved/'made. Hope this helps you out ... Let me know if this doesn't work...I am not sure how MCS installs as it was a click once application reference installer... This .exe may not be enough for things to work right but I thought I would give it a shot for ya.. good luck.

EDIT: Thank You Assassin for figuring this out for all of us!! MCS would have truely been missed.. I updated my skydrive with your zip and instructions for others to download I hope that is ok with you. Thanks Again!!

I saw someone post a link to a new program that has added what sound like are all the capabilities of media center studio to a toolset for all things media center (changing themes, customizing channel names, etc, etc)

MCE 7 Reset Toolbox v3:
http://vistademon.wordpress.com/

unfortunately its not free, but it does have a 30 day trial and its only $14 to buy, so I wouldnt be against that price if it performs reliably.
