Auto shutdown xbox 360 while running WMC?

I'm trying to set the auto shutdown setting on the 360. I have set it to 1 hour, but it never seems to shutdown while running as extender. I have a 360 in our bedroom and often fall asleep without remembering to shut off the xbox? Conversely, the picture seems to dim when I'm using the 'My Media Center' app on my phone as a remote(which I don't often do because of this issue).

I'm guessing this not possible?

No, I don't believe the auto shutdown timer will work when WMC is loaded.

You could buy a smart power strip. Connect the "master" outlet to your TV, and connect one of the "slave" outlets to your XBox. Then, set the sleep timer on your TV. When the TV turns off, it will turn off power to the XBox too.

Here are some examples:

Thanks...I might have to look into it. A little more than I would want to spend on a power strip, but in the long run, it will probably save me money...

EDIT: Do you know if any of these can power on the xbox?

All they do is the same thing that would happen if you unplugged the XBox's power cord. Does the XBox power-up when you first plug it in? If so, then yes.

I have personally owned one of the 10-outlet Bits Limited smart strips for about 10 years. It still works fine.

I have four others (can't remember the brand off-hand) that I purchased a couple of years ago. One of them has failed, the other three work fine.
