It binds to all of them:
- ipv4 must be is activated
- they must be up (connected)
- they must support multi-cast
- only one card per subnet is binded

I just tried to start up MC Cast, and I got the red SSDP error message. There were two programs recording at the time, so I didn't do any further testing.

Mudville? Do you live in Stockton, California?adam1991 wrote:well, no joy in Mudville tonight.
EDIT: Just Googled it... and I see that Holliston, Mass also has an area called Mudville. I'm betting that adam1991 is from Mass.

Don't know if this is any of an issue, but the Ceton Infinity Tuner show up as 4 NICs and have IP addresses with them.fredx21 wrote:It binds to all of them:

Of course the second computer I tested on does not have a Ceton and so I don''t know why it is not working on that computer.
It is clear that we have different configurations out there.
Think we need some logging to get to the bottom of this.

Before I left for work this morning, I tried this again. There was nothing recording, and none of the tuners were in use. I got the red line with the SSDP error. I manually stopped the SSDP service and MC Cast started working. I rebooted the PC, and again MC Cast wouldn't fire up, giving the SSDP error.foxwood wrote:I just tried to start up MC Cast, and I got the red SSDP error message. The question for me at this point isn't why I'm getting the error, it's why MC Cast worked for me in the first place.
It's not appropriate for an application to silently stop system services, whether there are dependencies or not. MC Cast needs to work with the SSDP process that is already part of Windows 7, not try to usurp it.

Foxwood,
It is interesting that you can stop the SSDP (Assume you had 3 dependent services with it, one being Infinity) and then run MCC and it works. Mine does not.
When you stop MCC, can you then use MCE and watch live TV? I can not. Have to restart the computer to get Live TV working again.
I have tried MCC on a 32 bit laptop/netbook and it does not work for me there either.
I wonder if you and the developer have some other software installed other than .net 4.5 than I do and that actually makes this thing work. Maybe it is just not 4.5
I am thankful to the developer that he is trying to bring this product to market. I really want a product like this that integrates with MCE. Hope we can get to a fully working version that works with all our configurations.
I am happy to help in testing as the author sees fit.

4 Dependencies listed. 2 Ceton InfiniTV services (one for TA support, even though I don't use TAs), one for UPnP, and one for Media Center Extenders).Ylinen wrote:Foxwood,

I didn't have time to test any further. I didn't even verify that MC Cast was working, I just verified that it was starting. At that point I rebooted the system, made sure that I could tune a live TV channel, and made sure my Extenders could start up.and then run MCC and it works. Mine does not. I was impressed when I first tried MC Cast, but I don't know why it worked then and doesn't work now, and it needs to cooperate with existing services, not stop them so that it can do it's thing. Casting is a "nicer to have" feature, even a "cool" feature, but this PC is our DVR, and that functionality comes first.

I have already removed .net 4.5 from the code, so the next beta won't require any particular .net installation.
After I launch beta 2, I can generate a version that does not stop SSPD and see if that works for you guys. Hopefully I can release beta 2 tonight.

Whatever the issue was I can confirm, everything works now in beta 3.

hi just bought and installed the latest version after trialling successfully on my laptop. the window to enter your email address in for a new registration disappears on opening. its still there somewhere as you can't re-click anywhere on the casting windows until you have pressed esc to close the hidden email entry window. hope that makes sense
other than that, i like. a lot. nice work

Do you have multiple monitors? When I activated mine, it came up right on top of my MCC screen. I have only one monitor.
There was another thread about multiple monitors and MCC not coming up on the same screen as MCE.
You might also try B4. Don't know if that would help.

I just did not have time to look into this yet, but it's true that MCC should open on the same display where Media Center is launched.

i do have multiple monitors but i'm used to things going awry with them so i have checked and couldnt see anything obvious. The email entry window does open in front of MCC but it disappears almost instantly, certainly before you get the chance to enter anything.
B4 is a different build?
i was hoping there might have been some back way to register, or enter email address at least into a text file? not a long term solution but will work for me! i still have a couple of weeks before the trial runs out

I saw this too (my fault for trying it over rdp!). I just closed and then restarted the app for a fresh start, clicked on activate, then typed in my email address into thin air and pressed enter. It worked!
