Can't access network drive
I feel like this should be easy, but I've been trying to figure it out for a while. Since reinstalling Windows 7 on my laptop, I can't access the hard drive in my HTPC from the laptop. The folders on the drive are shared with everyone and I can access them from other computers in the house, just not the laptop. Any ideas?

Control Panel-->All Control Panel Item->Network and Sharing Center-->Advanced sharing settings. Make sure Network Discovery is enabled.
Can you browse the HTPC via IP address? \\192.168.1.x\share_name

Thanks for the reply. I checked Network Discovery and it was enabled. I cannot browse the drive using the HTPC IP. Nothing happens when I try.Scallica wrote:Control Panel-->All Control Panel Item->Network and Sharing Center-->Advanced sharing settings. Make sure Network Discovery is enabled.

Do you have any security software or VPN software installed on the laptop? Can the laptop browse shares on the other computers on the network?

I can access other computers and the public folders on the boot drive of the HTPC. Just can't access the drive I want. (It's actually a raid array). I have AVG installed but I did that after I noticed the issue. I also have Teamviewer installed on both computers.Scallica wrote:Do you have any security software or VPN software installed on the laptop? If you go to Computer Management-->Shared Folders-->Shares, do you see the drive listed there? For example, if the RAID array is drive E:, you should see a share for E$ .

It shows on the HTPC. I'm starting to feel better that it's not something completely obvious.

What happens if you browse to \\192.168.1.x\E$ from another system?
What happens if you browse to \\localhost on the HTPC?
