Error: Invalid Application, Unable to launch "Ceton Otay"
Need help with my setup, please! Clean install of Windows 8 Pro x64 with Media Center Feature Activated. Installed the latest Ceton My Media Center. I have the iPad app also. The iPad app will see the machine and connect, but I can't do anything. When I start Windows Media Center, I get the error: Invalid Application, Unable to launch "Ceton Otay". I get an option to disable the application and then an OK button. What gives?

I've had that happen. Just restart Media Center and give it a second before you interact with it.rhmmmm wrote:Need help with my setup, please! I was doubtful when I read it, but the uninstall/reboot/reinstall/reboot actually worked. Thanks!

No problem Yeah usually when you read something like that you are like no way that doesn't make any sense
The real issue is probably WMC had a session open and locked for some reason so when we try to install the add-in it wont let us, but it still registers. Is very rare though.

I hate to resurrect old threads and generally moderators don't like it either but this is the only site I can find any valid information on.
Since upgrading to Windows 8.1 I can no longer use MMC on my HTPC Unable to launch "Ceton Otay" comes up every time. I have uninstalled, restarted, re-installed and restarted again with the same issue constantly happening. I can't figure out what I Can do but I have to admit I'm really missing being able to control my HTPC from my ipad and I'm willing to try just about anything to get this working.

Getting this while version 13.10.28.1276 on Windows 8.1 - I reverted to the stable version previously and it fixed the issue, just thought it was something jacked up with my settings until today when 13.10.28.1276 went to stable. I cannot find MMC in the add/remove programs windows feature. I tried to uninstall and re-install and still getting this error. I rebooted after each step to ensure nothing in WMC was running. Thoughts?

To clarify my earlier post. When 13.10.28.1276 was via Beta I had this issue -"Invalid Application - Ceton Otay; options to hit ok or disable" I uninstalled the beta and installed the stable build and did not have the issue. When 13.10.28.1276 went from beta to stable and I updated the issue returned as indicated above. Since Ceton Otay is an invalid application, functionality between the app and Windows Media Center is no longer working. Please fix asap or advise things to try as this appears to be a showstopper.

I have the exact same issue. This needs to be addressed pronto. I only bought this app to use it as a remote for WMC, which currently does not work. Frustrating.xtigma wrote:I have the same problem. On Windows 8.1 Pro x64 I get the same error, and I also get an error during the installation of the program:
Failed to save changes to XML file
C:\WINDOWS\\ehome\ehexthost.exe.config. system
error: -2147024891
Notice the there are 2 \\ in the path (right after WINDOWS). I guess that path is invalid, and perhaps that could be what's causing the errors?
Same error reported here with screenshot:

Can someone with coding skills maybe look into that?

Beta doesn't work at me.
Still get the error with \\ and service not running.
I have deinstalled, restarted ... everything.
What can I do?

I was able to get it to work as well but... I had to manually uninstall the windows 8 version that was installed prior to upgrading to Windows 8.1. I had to stop services and remove the install information from the registry. After a reboot I installed the beta. I got a OS incompatible error at the end of installation, but ran the installer again in repair mode and it now seems functional. I think ceton needs to work on their installers!

Sadly the error is back even on the beta, tried re-installing beta and it's still there.
