What's it like and how does it compare to iMon from Soundgraph?

That's what I was hoping for. I've never used LCD Smartie or read much about it but a HTPC case I am looking at has an LCD Display and they only have LCD Smartie for download and not iMon.

Looking on this LCD Smartie page here there is a list of plugins and Windows Media Player is listed twice. There is also an MCE XP plug-in here but its not free.

I just wonder if anyone here was already using it and figured it all out?

An LCDSmartie compatible dll which works with TcpIpController to display Windows Media Center information on an LCD Display.
Release 0.9.16 released - working on Windows 7 x64 and x86.

Looks like you have to use this dll in conjunction with http://vmccontroller.codeplex.com/

I used LCDSmartie with windows XP MCE almost 6 years ago. To be honest, I didn't even know it was still in development.

I loved it. The ONLY reason I stopped using it was because I went to a case that included an iMon that connected by USB that LCDSmartie didn't support. I built many homemade LCDs that connected through the parallel port and all of them worked great with LCDSmartie. It was easy to configure and the information you could display was limitless. IMon has a few good plugins but I find restricting compared to LCDSmartie. I would pay money if imon could do a 2 line clock so I could tell the time from more than 2 feet away!

I'm curious what case you looking at and what display it has.
