Watch Youtube in Media Center via Xbox

I use a Xbox 360 as an extender to connect to my HTPC, but I don't have a Xbox Live Gold account. Is there a way to go to Youtube while in Media Center using my Xbox?

You can use PlayOn and VMCPlayit.

Jack Luminous' TV Library plugin contains a YouTube plugin that works on extenders:

I don't think a lot of the videos won't play on the Xbox unless they are transcoded to something the Xbox supports.

It plays the .mp4 streams - he built it specifically with extenders in mind

I know Youtube accepts a lot of different formats. Do they convert everything to MP4?

Does this plugin download the whole video before playing it?

I believe they have for a while. Some really older ones might be flv only.

Doesn't buffer long on my end, maybe for a second or two at most. This is on WiFi on a DMA 2100 also. Don't know why it's being so slow for you....you can post your problem in the author's thread over at WEC (link is in the post I linked you to).

Well, it's probably cause my Internet connection is crap. Just ran a speedtest on it. It maxed out at 2.9 Mbps.
