I use my HTPC for TV and Movies with HD audio

I was wondering if someone could help me out. I have a htpc set up to an AVR via passthough to watch tv, then when I want to watch movies from the HTPC, I should have surround sound via PCM but the problem is that is sounds really bad. Is there a way to fix this so it would use PCM for the tv and then get HD audio (Dolby TrueHD) out via AVR for surround sound when watching a movie? thx

Are you using a video card or onboard (motherboard) graphics? and if so what type, brand, model # etc.?

Is that board/video card capable of bitstreaming? You're connected over HDMI, correct? If so, I'd recommend using shark007 and set the audio tab to bitstream HD audio. That way you get DD for TV and then HD Audio (DTSHD/TrueHD/etc) during movies. That's what I do and works great.
