An idea for marital bliss - Dual Play?

#1

Post by Meklos » Tue Nov 13, 2012 7:03 pm

So a coworker and I were just discussing games and the whole "Dual Play" idea - where two players (playing on a 3D-compatible display) can each have a full-screen view of the game. Something occured to me...

If you could separate out the audio into two separate streams, why couldn't you actually display two different programs at once?

They're both sitting on the couch, watching TV together. One or both have headphones on. She's watching one program, he's watching another one, and they're both getting to watch what they want to watch while sitting together. Of course, they both have Dual Play glasses on, but there are worse things in life.

I wonder if the 360 (or some other extender) would be capable of getting two different streams from a media server and displaying them like this? I wonder if Media Center could actually deliver two separate streams to one device?

Just thinking out loud...

Novel idea but that's all it is IMO.

I'm assuming you've had 'disagreements' over who gets to watch their show on the "Big TV"?

In any case, I was more interested on the "could it technically be done?" side. Dr. Phil? Not so much.

I'm sure it's technically possible. If you write the software, I'll be happy to test it.

Saw this older topic when just browsing through

I have a somewhat similar issue but I would like my TV to display what I want to see and have the ability to mute the audio stream transmitted by the wife.

Is there something I can download?
