Trying to resist not buying a second one given the price decreases. I have an ATI tuner as well, thus 5 CC tuners + 2 QAM (2250) tuners satisfies my needs.....but not my wants.

Got my InfiniTV 4! It works very well, very easy to set up. I had a moderate amount of push-back from the cable tech support person who insisted someone needed to come out for a truck roll. I insisted the cable guy would just call up RCN and give him the same numbers I have in front of me. After 10 minutes of him "consulting" with other people, they finally figured it out, and its working.
Only problem now is that the premium channels I had on my ATI DCT are no longer available- it says subscription required. Any ideas on how to fix this?

You probably need to get the cable company to re-authorize those channels for your cable card. All they have to do is send a signal to the CableCARD and you should be good to go.

My advice would be to install the card vanilla from the factory to make sure everything works first. Just download the latest driver set from Ceton, and don't try firmware yet.
I'm still running on relatively older firmware and drivers simply becuase I have no issues. If it aint broke...

You have to have the driver installed first before you can update the firmware. Just download the latest driver and install it. It will install a diagnostic utility which will be able to check to see if you need a firmware update. Your InfiniTV might even ship with the latest firmware anyway.

Also, firmware updates on any electronic device can sometimes (rarely) screw up. That's why I suggest just getting it all going. Make sure all the pieces are in place and working before you do any firmware twiddling.

Assuming the cable tech support person knew what I was talking about (BIG assumption), my card was still not able to receive premiums after they sent another signal. When I check out ceton diagnoistics, it says they still need to send out a CCV signal to my card. All the non-premium channels work fine.richard1980 wrote:You probably need to get the cable company to re-authorize those channels for your cable card. (The funny part is that I really don't need premium channels... it just came with the package i ordered. So why am spending time to get channels I am entitled to, may actually use, but don't actually need?)

Yeah, it is the same cablecard. Given how clueless the guy was when setting it up over the phone, I wouldn't be surprised if he missed a step. You would expect this behavior if the headend was not reset? (all the other checks in ceton diagnostics are check-marked)

I have seen users reporting this behaviour on TGB.com in the past. Some had to swap out their cc for a new 'clean' one, others just got through to a tech that knew what they were doing, and setup the cc correctly.
I'm not entirely sure this is your issue, but it could be.

The cable company has to send several different signals to the CableCARD. One of them is the CCV, which stands for CableCARD Validation. They need to send the CCV signal again, and I'm not sure what else (if anything) they need to do after that. I'm sure whatever signals get sent there has to be an order to it. Where's erkotz when you need him? Oh yeah....he's over at that one place.

I did have a two-outlet cable splitter that I was really only using as a coupler because I didn't have long enough coax running to my HTPC. There was a Terminator on the other outlet to help minimize any interference. And then I remembered I did have an extra coupler lying around, so I tried without the splitter, called up RCN again, and voila! Premium channels! See- who needs Erkotz! (Although we should really get him over here...)
