Windows Explorer hangs after wake from sleep

I keep getting a strange hang in Windows Explorer after I wake my PC from sleep where it just shows search icons/animations on the main headers in the tree (see attachment) and never seems to recover. Unfortunately, this means I can't even access the Control Panel until I reboot my PC. I did not have this problem in Win 7 on the same hardware. Anyone have any ideas?

Well, I think I have discovered the culprit. I was attempting to convert some video files with ffmpeg and somehow created an .avi file that apparently caused Windows 8 Explorer to crap itself. I could not even delete the file in Explorer so had to reboot and delete it from the command prompt. So far so good now that it is gone.
