TMT5 HDMI audio issues

#1

Post by STC » Wed Aug 03, 2011 12:55 am

Hi folks,

Using TMT5 with the latest patch, is anyone having issues when pausing or skipping a bluray, you loose HDMI audio?
You have to select another audio stream, then go back to make it work again.
ATI HD5750.

This issue looks like it has plagued older versions of TMT with ATI cards, but yesterday I bought an AVR and am using HDMI to pass audio for the first time with my rig.

I used to have an HD 5450 with TMT5 (187) and had no problems like that (I have an nVidia GT-430 now). But I think I read something at Arcsoft forum about guys with ATI cards having to revert to CCC 11.3 to solve some new issue. Maybe it was this one.

Hi bruce73 and welcome.

I have mailed support. Apparently there is (or used to be) a fix support has to email you(?)

When setting all this up I got absolutely no sound through the regular HDMI digital audio device. I thought my new Denon was DOA. I had to install the Realtek HDMI audio device driver for things to start working. With that I get all sound formats including HD, which is great and TV DD/ Pro Logic works 100%, but just this niggling issue with TMT.

Yup, I had this issue with TMT5 (5.0.1.87) and Catalyst 10.11 drivers. Arcsoft support emailed me a fix that got rid of the problem...

The only audio hotfix I applied was for TMT3 a while back, but didn't really need to. There was a problem with white noise happening on chapter change/seeking, which was CCC related (reverting back to 10.5 or whatever at the time worked). I have no problems now with TMT5 and the GT-430.

What Denon do you have? I've got a 2310CI. I didn't think the Realtek drivers worked with TMT, only the ATI ones.

I have the 2112CI.

Using the Realtek driver was a suggestion on another forum to resolve a similar issue, so I tried it and it works great, apart from the TMT pause/skip issue.

Geoff, you wouldn't happen to have the fix handy would you? Seeing as the TMT 5 patch just came out I don't hold up much hope of the quoted 24 hr response time...

Sorry, STC, I got the patch in November last year. I applied it then and have since deleted the Zip...

No, I bypassed that and am running the full release .113 patch.

Okay thanks for checking :) I will have to wait for Arcsoft CS to get back to me.

But Wouldn't the Beta TotalMedia Theatre 5.1.1.110 be a newer release than the TotalMedia Theatre 5.0.1.113 release? Might be worth a shot to see if it was fixed in this version... But what do I know? lol

They way I read their release structure is that x.1 identifies beta builds and x.0 are non beta releases. It looks as though .113 was released 28th July and the beta .110 was released 21st June.

Okay, I have found the problem and it was user error doh!

When I installed my nice shiny new AVR with HDMI, the only way I could get audio through HDMI was to install the RealTek HDMI audio driver. This worked great, apart from TMT would drop audio as described above.

I used to use the motherboard RealTek audio for spdif and 5.1 analogue to a Logitech Z5500 setup.
Unknowingly, I left the motherboard audio enabled in the bios even though I was not using it any more.
This seemed to prevent W7 from detecting the Realtek audio chipset in my ATI card.

The foolish thing is, I was trying to setup the motherboard RealTek chipset thinking it was the ATI
HDMI sound chipset, but this was a red herring unfortunately. I could only get 2 channel audio. and no HDCP support.

As soon as I disabled motherboard audio in the bios, the 'correct' RealTek HDMI audio chipset appeared in Playback Devices for me to configure / select as default.

TMT5 works 100% now. I can skip and pause without losing audio.

Thanks to all who assisted.

Thanks for the TMT5 info STC, glad you were able to figure it out. Pc's can be so damn picky if things aren't just set up perfect..good job figuring that one out on your own. Now..on to that darn remote control...lol
