Error messages

#1

Post by Crash2009 » Sat Dec 01, 2012 1:39 am

Error message 1, while trying to play a movie with the Echo. Files needed to display video are not installed or are not working correctly. Restart WMC, or restart computer. Tried both, same results.

Error message 2, while trying to play Live TV with the Echo. A critical WMC process has failed. Restart the computer and try again. If the problem persists, contact your hardware MFG for assistance. Tried restart, same results.

Anybody know what these errors are trying to tell me? I am tempted to start slapping the video card and/or WMC, but I think that would be a waste of time, since WMC works fine on the HTPC, and the Echo is the only new hardware.

Checked out a few things this morning. It appears to me that "something" is not turned on in WMC and this is why I am getting the errors.

While using the Echo, I can view My Pictures. I can play My Music (but I hear no sound). I get the pre-mentioned errors while trying to play any of My Videos, Recorded TV, My Movies, or Live TV. Network tuning passed with flying colors.

It appears to me that streaming is not "turned on" or maybe "allowed"

Sound is working now. TV was muted. :wtf:

Any idea's?

I guess for #1 it depends on the movie file and type if you can post a Media Info dump on here I will let you know. http://mediainfo.sourceforge.net/en

#2: Look at the last thing topic in here: http://cetoncorp.com/support/index.php? ... ting-guide

I think that might be it.

#2 Network List Service and Quality Windows Audio Video Experience were running but not set to run automaticly. They are now. I setup the extender again.

Still same error when trying to play live (or dead) TV.

#1 I'll get started on that now.

#1 The extender won't play any type of video. Live, recorded, or otherwise. I get the same error with every type. A critical WMC process has failed......Restart

I installed the Echo on a different 64 bit Win 7 Ultimate, and guess what,,,,it works.

The bad news is, to fix the other one, I think there will be some casualties.

Restored HTPC to 10/15/2012, installed Echo, WMC menu looks a little funky-like a bad video card or driver. Played Polar Express. No live tv yet.

Decided to bite the bullet and throw on a fresh install on the HTPC. Likely lost some protected recordings, but I don't care. Had to make it work, and I was running out of time.

HTPC was running so good lately, I never would have dreamed there was something serious wrong with it.

Live TV on the Echo at last.

I took this picture yesterday, during the install, before the re-install of Win 7.

While observing the Echo for some sign of doing something, I noticed a small red indicator light, just below the CETON light. First was 1 red, then 2, then all 3. I assume this was an indication of something.

Exactly what do these indicators represent?
