Notifications while viewing Media Center

Does anyone know the trick to enable or disable the notifications while watching Media Center? I normally don't get any visible notifications (email, calander, or messenger) while watching tv through Media Center. By some odd occurrence, I got notifications the other day while watching live tv, can't figure out what I did to get them though. They show up everywhere else on the computer, even while watching the Netflix Media Center Addin, just not in Media Center.

I think it is in the pc setting metro app.

I have all those notifications enabled, and I do get notifications everywhere throughout the OS except while using Media Center. I'm sure this was done on purpose so your viewing experience isn't constantly interrupted. I however would like to have the notifications appear while I'm using Media Center. Thought maybe this was a registry change I could make or something fairly simple.
