Comskip config question

#1

Post by kc10boom » Thu Nov 29, 2012 7:11 pm

I made a donation and got the latest version of Comskip.

I noticed there is a configuration file that you need to change, but there is also a Comskip text file which look like it has settings also.

Do I just need to change the couple of settings in the Comskip configuration file and leave that text file alone ?

It's the .ini file you tweak.

Thanks. Can I leave the directory for commercial XML files as default in the users-public folder, or do they have to be in the same directory as the TV shows?

I've seen some setup guides that have the recordings and commercial skip info all in the same directory.

That part is preference. I don't mix any of the scan files with the .wtv files so it keeps that area nice and neat.

I keep them in a non default location but for a very specific reason. I have multiple machines reading and using the files to skip commercials. I keep them in a separate directory that's shared out so the other PCs can use them.

*extenders will skip where-ever you store the files by the way, in case this info is misleading.

Sorry if that confuses. I forget the extender model simplifies some things.
