HP IR Receiver not working

#1

Post by stackz07 » Sun Nov 11, 2012 7:49 pm

Hi guys, i have an OVU400103/00 http://www.ebay.com/itm/HP-Media-Center ... 337d6827fb reciever and a logitech harmony 900 rf remote with ir blaster. I have the ir blaster placed right in front of the receiver and windows 7 automatically installed the drivers as Microsoft eHome Infared Transceiver. I programmed my harmony to be a Media Center PC > Microsoft> MCE

Nothing works. Any ideas?

I believe that you can't use an IR receiver to accept commands from a RF based device. I may be wrong, but I think you need a RF based dongle for your PC.

@stacksz07: I think you're saying that you have an IR blaster that accepts the RF signal from your remote, correct?

1) Have you tried testing with a standard Media Center remote (not the Harmony) to see if it works?
2) Have you tried pointing a digital camera (or camera phone) at the IR blaster to see if the IR emitter is blinking when you press buttons on the Harmony?

Does it work if you use a non-RF remote? We need to sort out if this is a remote issue or IR receiver issue.

Yes the rf hooks up to a IR BLASTER. The blaster is working for xbox and everything else and I put the HP IR receiver right in front of it. I am just curious if anyone knows how to get the remote sending the right signals as that appears to be the problem?? Maybe not though?

What we are asking you to do, is to use an IR remote to confirm that the MCE IR receiver is working. You'll need to use the remote control that came with the IR receiver, or any standard MCE remote. If you perform this test, and the IR receiver still doesn't work, then you have confirmed that the problem is the IR receiver, and not the Logitech blaster or your Logitech remote programming.
