802.11ac and Xbox ?

#1

Ok, I've seen plenty of post and experienced first hand itch my new 360 that 802.11n is not that great for using the Xbox as n extender for WMC. I see several new 802.11ac routers available that advertise they are 3x the speed of wireless N ... I understand the Xbox doesn't have AC available yet, hear that folks have seen speed improvements when connecting to N on other devices. Has anyone tried this with the Xbox?

I haven't tried it myself, but I suppose you'd need a wireless bridge between two 802.11ac devices and then a wired connection to the xbox from the bridge. That sounds like an expensive undertaking!

Is it possible for you to run an actual cable to your Xbox? The reason being is that wireless will only be a half duplex connection where as on a wired connection you get full duplex speeds.

I ran my slim 360 on N with the router in the same room with a clean line of sight to it to test out the speed and performance and it paled in comparison to a wired connection. I understand some people may be limited in their configuration and may need to run wireless but if you can always run wired

Yes you can run a wired connection to an xbox. It sounded like most prefer it that way.
