Hi, after W10 cumulative update on 11th of October, WMC does not play recordings anymore.
I have restored to a previous restore point and stopped automatic updates. Works now for the time being.
Any suggestions?

Hey,
My main machine was updated yesterday - it rebooted after KB5031356 was applied - but I'm not seeing any particular issue with my recordings.
What were the symptoms exactly?

I'm still using V13 and mine stopped working properly but 'modern versions' of WMC should have survived this update so the question is: Which version of WMC are you using?

Hi, I have the same issue since the October windows update. I am running wmc v13. It seems that the media player being used by wmc is the problem. I can watch all recordings with vlc player, but not in TV recordings of wmc. I have restored the system - it works now- but have problem to stop windows forcing updates. I have windows home, that does not allow me to defer updates. Any ideas?

I'd try the 8.x branch, that should be less impacted by such changes, as technodevotee said. You basically have 3 options:jump007 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 28, 2023 2:30 am Hi, I have the same issue since the October windows update. I am running WMC v13. - 8.8.5: https://mega.nz/file/GKQx3aTB#1PY2AgBQh ... Sc5b2G1XhE
- 8.10.0, which is basically based on the 8.8.5 installer but only applies compat' fixes based on the specific Windows version: https://mega.nz/file/OotgkDBY#BOV1wJFap ... MjaNlogdj4
- 8.9.1, which is a MSI-based installer based on 8.8.5 maintained by Garyan2: https://garyan2.github.io/win10.html
If you're unsure which one to use, give 8.9.1 a try first.

Many of us use StopUpdates10 to great effect.
From their website:
