Can WMC prevent duplicate recording of movies and episodes?
If not what is the easiest way to accomplish this task?

If you set up a Series request, it is supposed to not record the same episode or movie twice. Sometimes it does for known and unknown reasons, but for the most part it works (although I haven't used Series requests for movies enough to know if it works, but it does work for TV series and not recording the same episode twice).
It keeps track of what programs/episodes it has already recorded within the Series, so if you create one Series for the show "Friends" and another for the actress "Jennifer Aniston", then each separate Series WILL record the same episodes, but each individual Series should not record multiple copies of the same episode. If you delete the Series, then the list of recorded episodes is also deleted (but only episodes that were recorded by that Series), so if you re-create the Series for the same show, it starts out with a blank list and will record episodes that the old Series may have already recorded.
