just cut and paste one of those 'set PATH..." lines in to a CMD window (and press return) before you run the *.cmd file in the same window.

What command did nothing?

The "set" line is just setting a variable, it's not supposed to do anything other than set a value, you need to run a command after that for it to do anything, such as one of the installers you were having problems with. It has to be run in the same window from the command line (not double clicked on) in order for it to see the variable you set and use it.

Example:
Within a CMD window:

Code: Select all

C:\> cd C:\Users\Blingee G\Downloads\WMC Win10\WMC-V8.8.5\

C:\Users\Blingee G\Downloads\WMC Win10\WMC-V8.8.5\> set PATH=C:\Windows\system32;C:\Windows;C:\Windows\System32\Wbem;C:\Windows\System32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\;%PATH%

C:\Users\Blingee G\Downloads\WMC Win10\WMC-V8.8.5\> bin\windows10.0-kb3106246-x64.msi

I tried running the commands you said I should run, but when I did, it said, "This installation package could not be opened. Contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer package."

I don't know anything about the installer package, so can't help there.

Do you have a friend who IS good at computers? Ask them to come do it for you. Pay them dinner or a pizza or a six pack. Installing WMC on Windows 10 is not hard.
