Client Not Updating

#1

Post by wilme2 » Fri Jul 16, 2021 7:45 pm

I have a primary WMC 7 DVR, and it is client-and-server for EPG-123 with no issues. I have a Win 8 desktop where I also run WMC. I set it up as a client of the WMC 7 DVR and it seemed to work fine initially. But the client isn't updating. I have the server .mxf directory shared with read-access to Everyone. The client is pointed correctly - when I open the EPG Client on the Win 8 desktop it reads the lineups as expected. The Win 8 desktop even has the EPG logo in green when you are in WMC, but with a date from when first installed. The task scheduler shows the Last Run Result as (0xFFFFFFFF) which I think is an error, but I have been over every history entry for Task Scheduler, and I don't see anything helpful-

OK, found the EPG123 client log. I am getting [ERROR] File does not exist - no real surprise. I am referencing a share on the server in the form of IP plus share name, so \\###.###.###.###\ShareName\epg123.mxf. This reference works fine in file explorer, but either epg123Client.exe or Task Scheduler does not like that reference when run as a task.

Looks like since I was hitting a network location I needed to change the task to run as my local user and not SYSTEM. Working now.

That is correct. EPG123 will relate the task using SYSTEM, but if accessing a network share, it will need to change to a user account.
