Adobe Flash - end of life
hey folks,
I am still using WMC on Win 7 for our DVR. Silicondust tuners, Hauppauge tuner + remote, very old dedicated PC just for this.
I have moved all streaming to phone + ChromeCast, so the only function WMC7 currently serves is recording, time shifting, and commercial skipping broadcast TV. Basically just the DVR
Recently I started receiving a "adobe Flash end of life notice" with a "uninstall it now?" prompt. I actually almost clicked it before it occurred to me that I don't actually recall if it is required for WMC7 in any way?
Anyone confirm it is or is not required? Anyone actually already uninstalled it and can report WMC still functions normally?
I did a quick web and forum search and was not able to find anything conclusive either way, thanks in advance for any insight.

There are only two flashed based WMC plugins I know of. The first one is the MIcrosoft Netflix plugin, which requires silverlight flash player. Silverlight is now end of life, and the plugin still functions as intended minus a few remote buttons. It has been like this since 2015 when microsoft yanked it.
The second plugin is tubecore, which is a client for playon. I dont know that tubecore itself requires flash but I can tell you playon server does. None of this will effect WMC's ability to act as a DVR.

Silverlight (Microsoft) and Flash (Adobe) are two separate things...

I can confirm removing flash doesn't harm WMC.

thanks all for the responses, appreciate the feedback and confirmation that I won't inadvertently trash my WMC setup by removing it now...

Well, you really were never in danger since you made a backup image of the C: drive first, right?

Yea we are getting towards the End of Flash but, sites still use it. I bet this will be here for a while longer after the new year....
Yes, WMC does not need flash but, if you use some 3rd party apps in WMC that might use it, it could cause some issues. Uninstall it, and do some tests..
