A few days ago (10-8) I noticed the red X appearing on WMC with EPG123

This was the most recent update from this morning and it has been a few days with the same error.
What do I need to do to fix it as I only have about 7days left of guide data left.
Thanks in advance.

Could you send my your cache file (c:\programdata\garyan2\epg123\cache\epg123cache.zip) to suppport@garyan2.net?

After that, open the configuration GUI, click the [Clear Cache] button, and then [Save & Execute] to update the guide.

I tried to send you a note and got (Your message wasn't delivered to support@garyan2.net because the address couldn't be found, or is unable to receive mail.)

Went on to [Clear Cache] and [Save and Execute] doing it now...fingers' crossed............

I think your error message gives me enough to look at as the root cause for cache errors I am getting. It looks like the character '\' in a md5 hash is being problematic. I had to address this for filenames in the old method of caching json downloads... looks like I will have to do the same for the single cache file.

Well, I was wrong on the cause. Your cache file was actually corrupted. I think I'm going to stop compressing it to see if reported problems concerning the cache are reduced.

Thanks. On 10/8, epg123 experienced a "catastrophic" error when trying to safe the cache file. That is how it got corrupted.

Code: Select all

[10/8/2020 3:33:50 PM] [ERROR] Unhandled exception caught from epg123.exe. message: Catastrophic failure (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8000FFFF (E_UNEXPECTED))

Gary,

Is it possible to set up EPG123 so that if an errror occurs, to Automatically clear cache and try again?
Had an red icon for 2 days, ended up clearing cache and that took care of it.

On next release, I've added quite a few catches for any problems with the cache that will hopefully mitigate this. I suspect some of this is coming from problems compressing the file which introduces errors. Without an example, I can't know for sure if I capture all of them.

Sorry, going to have to wait a little longer while I monitor some new code for any unexpected behavior. If everything goes well, I should release a new version within a week.
