Last XBox model with WMC Extender Support

#1

My Xbox 360S came down with the RDOD (Red Dot of Death). I opened it and all looks good. Fan spins, heat sink is clean. I removed the heat sink and added a dab more of heat sink compound but no luck. Still have the RDOD. I'm considering getting a used one but the 360 S is an old model. Do any of the newer models work as a WMC Extender?

No. The 360S was the last model to support being an extender for WMC.

Thanks. I'll have to figure out what to do next. I can probably go with another DVR option. Now that we have Apps via Roku for the premium channels, I can use a DVR that doesn't have to support protected channels.

Is there any documentation verifying this because I have an Xbox 360E that has zero issues with being an extender besides the annoying Xbox live login issue.

You're right. I forgot there was a 360E.

All of the XBox360 machines supported WMC Extendeder. The original XBox One (and all of the ones since) do not have it.

You can fix that by removing the H264 plugin, create and login with a new xbox live account and redownload the plugin. Once the plugin download is "owned" by an account which that is its main box, then you no longer need to login each time you want to access it.

If you have several xbox 360 machines as extenders, just create a separate xbox live (free) account for each one to fix this problem.
