EPG123 missing known good channels

#1

Post by mebehoof » Fri Jan 31, 2020 4:42 am

Hi All,

New here so want to say hi ...

Got EPG 123 working pretty well except that in my channel lineup it WILL NOT show (Detroit Area WJBKDT 1 - 5) This section of channels worked great before my EPG123 install...

Using a 4 channel Hauppauge tuner and quality OTA antenna's that have proven over time to do their job...

This morning WMC showed these channels now all the same ones I had this AM are there except the above mentioned WJBKDT freq's.

Thanks in advance for any help and best to all,

Perhaps you didn't realize that WJBK is a VHF channel and according to the instructions for EPG123 VHF channels need to be manually added as WMC does NOT scan the VHS frequencies.

Stuartm,

Thank you very much for the reply... back to the drawing board for me... wonder why it worked so well in WMC before EPG123?

No need to go back to the drawing board. You just need to manually add the VHF channels. Reference: http://epg123.garyan2.net/tools/#vhfAddChannel

garyan2, thanks for the reply and the link... I was already trying to work with that page... having difficulty finding (understanding) what assigned frequency to put in after the digital tv channel?

This is for a Detroit station that is WJBK with 4 affiliates...

Any help or pointers will be most appreciated...

For this, I prefer to use http://antennaweb.org to find the physical RF channel. You can see in the picture below that for WJBK, digital/virtual channels are 2.x while the physical channel is 7. Use 7 for the "assigned frequency" in WMC.

garyan2,

update: I did get all 5 WJBK channels working but have no guide data for them... will that show up after the guide refreshes?

You can get the listings now. Open the client and click the Match by: [# Number] button. Reference just a little further down the page on how to connect a station listing to a guide channel. http://epg123.garyan2.net/tools/#channelMapping

I also live in the Detroit area and the WMC scan for channels did not find CBET 9.1, the Windsor Ontario CBC station. I added it manually but get no listings, I'm guessing because it does not show up in the Schedules Direct list.

Any ideas?

You need to match the listings to the channel.

How do you match it when it's not in the Lineup?

I am guessing it is in the lineup. Run EPG123.exe and look for the network in the list, put a check mark next to it if it is missing, then Save & Execute.

Then exit and run the EPG123 client and do the matching like indicated in the link I provided.

I checked the "Local Over the Air Broadcast" lineup on zap2it for zip code 48234 (not sure what your zip is) and that channel is in this lineup. So if for some reason that channel is not in the lineup you chose, maybe you can use this one if it has all the channels you need.

You will need to add another lineup from Canada (Ontario) and add the station to your download. Once you do a [Save & Execute] the lineup and channel will be available on the right side of the client to match to your Canadian channel.

Nope. I let Schedules Direct know and they said they will fix it.

Yeah, I started thinking about it and tried another close by zip code and found one with everything I need, it worked fine.

Thanks!
