Losing signal intermittently

I have just set up a Windows 7 VM as my WMC host to serve live cable tv through CAT cable to my Xbox 360. The VM is recording data over to an external hard drive connected via USB 2.0

I'm using and HDHomerun prime with a Cox cablecard.

The problem I am having is that the Xbox loses signal intermittently about every 45 minutes (whether I'm recording or just watching live tv). It freezes for about a minute, then quickly shows a low signal screen and then the signal resumes.

I've tried using different hard drives to make sure that's not the problem. Anyone have any recommendations or ideas as to what could be the problem?

Losing signal can be at least 3 different things.

1 is the TV signal
2 is the throughput of your device
3 is network (either WiFi or Wired)

Is the Xbox using WiFi or Wired?
