I was reading that today. Its great news and I would think more htpc enthusiasts would be very excited about this. Its the answer to the loss of DE in WHS 2011. Read the technical details at MS' blog: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/b8/archive/2012 ... iency.aspx

It seems like Storage Spaces will be an improvement all around even to the original DE functionality in the first WHS. For me personally, that feature pretty much guarantees Ill have Win8 at launch, possibly to replace my WHS setup. Perhaps by then, they will announce a new version of WHS with these features and more

My bet is that there will be no successor to WHS 2011. Since Windows 8 desktops will have Storage Spaces, then all that is needed to turn your Windows 8 Desktop into something that is better than WHS 2011 would be the centralised PC Backup facility. I would not be at all surprised if Microsoft reuse the code developed for WHS and repackage it as an Add-on that will be available via the Windows 8 online Store.

There are a few other features to WHS as well including the web portal that it provides for users.
