Need Help With a Sony HDTV Standby issue.

Ok, I'm on a roll trying to work out all the little bugs in my setup..
so far I am doing pretty good with your help here...First off thanks all for your input..
I have a Sony KDL-46Z4100 (older HDTV)
Basically What I would like it to do is go into standby mode after a few minutes of inactivity. My son likes to play the PS3 and when he's done he turns off the PS3 but it leaves the TV and AVR on.. I would like it if the screen would just enter standby mode after a few minutes. I RTFM but only see this option for the PC input only and I have everything hooked up HDMI
HTPC HDMI > AVR HDMI > TV
PS3 HDMI> AVR HDMI> TV
All the switching is done by the AVR..
Is there a setting in the PS3 to power off the AVR and TV somewhere automatically instead ? Both My TV and AVR are Sony and support (Bravia Sync aka HDMI-CEC).
TIA,

Your TV doesn't automatically turn off after some period of time with no input? Even my cheap Emerson 32" LCD's that I bought at Wal Mart on Black Friday do that.

Sounds like your AVR might be sending a purple screen when there is no input from the source device. There might be a setting in the AVR to stop this. As long as the TV receives a video signal (purple screen) it will stay on... even if your TV has the ability to turn off automatically after no input is received.

I get the same screen w/o the AVR.. I'll dig into the settings a but more tonight and see if I can figure out why standby isn't working. I figured out that if I turn off the TV first when done with the PS3 HDMI CEC will turn off the AVR and PS3 for me.. Might just change the way in shutting things down..as I usually turn off the ps3 first.

I have a KDL-40Z4500 and I think mine used to go into standby but now media center is routed through an amp it stays on. I'll have a dig around my settings...

My TV is set to reduced power and although the amp switches off when idle the TV stays on. Going to have to find the manual...
