http://www.theverge.com/2016/6/8/118846 ... re-on-hold
After careful consideration, we've decided to put development of DVR for Over-the-Air TV on hold to focus our attention on launching new, higher fan-requested gaming experiences across Xbox One and Windows 10," revealed a Microsoft spokesperson in a statement to The Verge. "We're always listening to fan feedback and we look forward to bringing more requested experiences on Xbox One, Windows 10 and Xbox Live this year."

It was a lackluster solution to begin with. Also, they probably realized how much Rovi sucks.

I found that a bit humorous as well. We listened to the fan feedback and decided to eliminate some things...you know, per the fans.

Yep, they probably began the decision process to eliminate xBone DVR right around the time we stopped hearing from anybody about the Rovi cutover.

They'll still be using Rovi to power the guide for Live OTA TV viewing on the XBOX One.

I forgot about that. Another lackluster solution on their part. They really dropped the ball on the TV aspect of things.

And you can still plug your cable box into the Xbox One and use the Xbox One guide to IR blast the channel changes right?

Yup. Rovi is used for that too.
