Smart Potato vs Media Buddy
Hey-- Any thoughts or opinions on Smart Potato vs Media Buddy as a WP7 App?
Anyone using the full version of either?

I actually have both.
Personally, I use Media Buddy more than Smart Potato at the moment - mainly for the extra media streaming abilities (music and videos as well as pictures).
Smart Potato works very well for all other functions, although I do like the guide scrolling in MB.

Tx. I downloaded the trials of both to my phone. It's weird. I like the guide of SP, but the over-all functionality of MB. grr.. lol

I've been using Media Buddy for awhile. The author has been publishing updates on a consistent basis. As there's a ton of crap in the WP7 app store, it's nice to have found an app that the developer actually cares about.

Before I head over to MediaBuddy Forums/Support -- Seems that all my playbacks are failing expect MP3 playback. I have the streaming pack installed. Any ideas? Tried my CableCARD recordings, some WMVs and some AVIs with no-luck.

Are you still having this problem - sorry, I missed your last post somehow!
I assume that all of the required ports are open in your router and that you can stream from a web browser OK? (default is 9080-9083)
Any 3rd party codecs installed?

I've made a "little" progress but it still isn't working 100% correctly. I can now get it to play my Recorded TV from my CableCARDs. But, I can't get it to play my AVIs, MKVs, MP4s, etc..
What's supported for playback? Any idea where to start troubleshooting this?
Thanks man!

To be honest, I've had no issues with MB so I don't have a lot of knowledge about it really!
I know that having codec packs installed can break h.264/ac3 wtv streaming, other than that I'm not aware of any issues.
Have you checked out the Remote Potato forums at all?

Tx. Yeah, I'm convinced it's not a MB or SP thing but an RP thing.
Just trying playback via local PC IE browser also fails on all the same things. I think it's the videos I'm trying to playback & how I transcoded them originally (into AVIs with x264 video and AC3 audio -- not a common format for sure).
I'll check over at the RP forums for advice on understanding the logs.
