Gary, thanks so much for replying! This one has me really stuck.

When I try to Update Guide Now, I receive an error starting the task "There was a problem starting the scheduled task to update the guide. Does the task exist?" This is in Windows 7.
The task does try to run every morning at 5am from viewing the log. I am on the East Coast of the US, but I will adjust the time as suggested to not be right on the hour.

Below is the last successful update on 11/5/2021 before the failure began on 11/6/2021. Not sure if there are any clues in that day's log about why the subsequent updates have not been successful.

I've been using epg123 for years without any issues and wanted to say I really do appreciate the project!

The tray application may not be able to see the scheduled task to run it due to permissions. Once you delete the current task and create a new one, that should clear up both issues.

Another option to update the guide on demand is to open the configuration GUI and click [Save & Execute].

So I did delete the task, and create a new one for this morning. This time the execution was for 4:35 AM EST. The updating still seems to fail because of a problem with the app communicating with Schedules Direct:

I am not sure how or if I can create a trusted SSL/TLS channel for the app to communicate with Schedules Direct to open the transfer

It's not just SD, it is github as well when failing the GetClientVersion(). You appear to have a network problem, but if your internet was not up I would expect to see DNS failures. Since we are not seeing that, I would suspect that you have a firewall in place that is blocking epg123.exe.

Updated to v 1.7.0.10 yesterday. This morning the tray Icon is missing and I have a couple of new errors in the Windows error log: Event ID 1000 Application Error and Event ID 1026 .NET Runtime. Further details on request. System is Windows 7 Pro x64.

There have been no changes in the tray application for quite a while. The only update to it since last release was in 1.7.0.9 to remove a line that stopped the menu option 'Download/Donate webpage' from working that was accidently left in code in 1.7.0.8.

Weird. Literally, the only thing changed from 1.7.0.9 to 1.7.0.10 was the version number. I'm not seeing any issues here. Can someone else confirm? Maybe just a bad build, or something on your system doesn't like the "new" program.

I installed 1.7.0.10 this morning and ran a "Save & Execute" and also manually ran the task from Task Scheduler. Everything appears perfect (i.e. normal) and every shortcut in the task tray works as intended. No tray faults!

It appears some of the station entries in the json return from SD for broadcast language are just strings rather than the expected array of strings. EPG123 is pretty strict with the json returns, so not being the proper structure throws an error and fails the update. I've looked at one example that the format error was there, but is no longer present. So this may be being corrected right now. If problem persists into tomorrow, I'll start pinging SD on the issue.

That way a user can simply say "As shown on line number XX" in the log.
