I fixed it! Sorry Gary as I can't experiment longer (just saw your message).

This is what I did to resolve color logo issue (shotgun approach)
1. Uninstall WMC
2. Uninstall EPG123
3. Delete EPG123 folder from C:Program data folder
3a. Gary, why doesn't this delete on uninstall?
3b. C:Program data is a hidden folder. Have to change view folder options in control panel to see/edit folder
4. Uninstall Microsoft .net 4.8
5. Uninstall Ceton tuner driver (just to be safe)
6. Install Microsoft .net 4.8
7. Install WMC
8. Install Ceton tuner driver
9. Config tuner in WMC. Close WMC.
10. Install EPG123 latest version
11. Configured WMC with EPG. Told it "no internet connection". Declined guide terms of service. - Stop not critical. Just highlighting what I did.
12. Ran configurator, updated guide. Boom color logos appeared.

I think the EPG123 install procedure could use a couple of extra safeguard steps for install. Especially for new Windows 7 PC installs. I would add:
1. Before installing EPG123, manually install Microsoft .net using executable off EPG123 website. This would prevent issues incase .net installer fails during EPG123 execution. (I think this was my downfall)
2. Before installing EPG123, manually install Playready using executable off EPG123 website. If you tell WMC there is not a internet connection, it is impossible to install Playready through WMC.

Thanks Gary for your help. Love your program still:)

You didn't need to do all that.

So the logos work like this (example: HSN)
Custom logo: HSN_c.png
Dark: HSN_d.png
White: HSN_w.png
Light: HSN_l.png
Gray: HSN_g.png
Default: HSN.png

For logo displays in the configuration GUI, the rules are if you have a custom logo in the .\logos folder it will always be displayed regardless of your preferred logo selection. The dark, white, light, and gray logos will be displayed to match your selection if they exist in the .\logos folder. If a selected logo does not exist in the .\logos folder, it will then show the default logo if it exists. *Of course if you select to not include station logos in the .\logos folder then none will be displayed and will not be included in the generated mxf file for display in WMC. **** EDIT BELOW *****

Your image above shows that for HSN, the only logo you had in your .\logos folder is HSN.png which is the default (and happens to be gray). You said you tried [Save & Execute] a number of times, but were they successful? There must have been a reason that epg123 failed to download your preferred logos and it should have been noted in the log file. If you deleted the epg123 folder then you have lost that evidence.

Also, in an image above, you showed some colored logos mixed with the default gray ones, so it looks like it was able to download some but never finished. I'll run some tests here to see if I can duplicate an unsuccessful download of all the logos. EPG123 is supposed to wait until all logo downloads have completed before ending the update, but there can also be something in the information from SD that throws an error that results in what you are seeing there.

EDIT: Forgot to add that if you select to include station logos in .\logos folder, but also select 'do not use SD logos', then it will only display the custom logo (primary) or the default logo.

I checked the logos folder before I deleted it. The majority of the logos were gray for whatever reason. The baseball team channels were in color. That was about it. The color logos would just not download. Very weird.

I can't get my guide data to update since the end of June because the log says all these channels data have been removed. How do i get it working again?

Thanks

Open the configuration GUI and review the stations selected for download. If everything is good, click [Save & Execute] which will re-baseline the number of stations to 400+ rather than the original 672.

I have tried that and it removes all those channels from my WMC. I was just looking at the channels and noticed that the tuners call sign for the channels are still SD and in turn in WMC as well. The cable company just recently got rid of all the SD channels and moved the HD channels in there place without updating the call signs to HD apparently. So i guess what is happening is its working properly but since schedules direct removed all the SD channel info from the lineup epg123 removes the channels from WMC. So what i need is some way to change all the channel names to match the schedules direct lineup.

Do you have automatch enabled?

The tuner callsigns don't mean anything for this, it is the channel numbers. Are the channel numbers in the lineup from SD correct and complete?

That did the trick. I don't how automatch got disabled as i have been using epg123 for years without issue.

Thanks Gary for the quick help

I really appreciate EPG123.

Occasionally, I get this error during a guide update:

This error is from loadmxf.exe which is part of WMC. Looks like it had problems, but the most interesting thing is it took over 14 minutes to error out while your successful run only took 2 minutes to complete.

WMC does a lot of things when it is importing an mxf file and there may have been too many changes in the guide data that led to the exception. I believe however that loadmxf.exe has a method that when an exception is thrown it will start a new session and continue the import. Since epg123 isn't the owner of the new thread, it can't know what is going on for that one. It may be possible that though it failed the first time, it may have completed on the second session making your manual update a few minutes later quicker.

That's the best I can do in trying to explain loadmxf failures.

Thanks Gary!

FYI

My guess about this was that the occasional error occurs when a station gets added or removed from my lineups.

Day before the error:

[7/14/2022 6:12:00 AM] [ INFO] Generated .mxf file contains 226 services, 5773 series, 3955 seasons, 41029 programs, 106803 schedule entries, and 57242 people with 11245 image links.

Day of the error:

[7/15/2022 6:11:50 AM] [ INFO] Generated .mxf file contains 227 services, 5803 series, 3987 seasons, 40910 programs, 106932 schedule entries, and 57238 people with 11290 image links.

The MXF is created on my Windows 10 system that has Internet access and then gets imported on my Windows 7 system that has only local-network access, no Internet.

I am getting this same error and my guide will not download. Any ideas?

I keep getting an error related to ActorRole when the guide tries to bring in any new guide data.
I'm running 1.7.1.7 of EPG123
I do not have any of the security updates applied that are messing with the ehtrace.dll

I ran the rebuild wmc database and then did another guide update and this worked

I have the latest epg123. I get an invalid username / token when I try to login to Sd using the EPG client. Logging in directly to SD works fine. My other computer is working fine. This one stopped working on Nov 20th.

Anyone else noticing their SD guide images missing again?
Following a database rebuild, I've tried downloading guide data with v1.7.3.0 and v1.7.3.5 without success.

Log includes lines like --
[07/01/2023 22:24:53] Entering GetAllSeriesImages() for 3313 series.
[07/01/2023 22:24:53] [ INFO] Found 3158 cached/unavailable series image links.
[07/01/2023 22:24:53] [ INFO] Refreshing 131 series image links.
[07/01/2023 22:24:55] [ INFO] Successfully retrieved artwork info for 125 programs. (0:00:00:02.0481171)

..but no images are displayed for series, season or movies in the guide.

What does your service log file look like? I'm not having any issues with downloading images.

The service log is c:\programdata\garyan2\epg123\server.log

As Gary is insinuating, guide images are not downloaded during the guide update, the thing related to the images that is downloaded during the update are image LINKS (URLs that point to the images on the Internet, or actually the EPG123 proxy server).

You need to be running the EPG123 proxy server in order for these links to work, as the proxy server adds the authentication information for your Schedules Direct account that is needed to download the images from the Schedules Direct image server.

The server.log file is where the diagnostic information for the EPG123 proxy server is logged.

Thanks for the helpful replies. I hadn't understood the architecture properly.
My server log only contains a single entry --
[08/01/2023 10:34:13] version 1.7.3.5 : autoRefreshToken=True , cacheImages=False , cacheRetention=30

It seems the epg proxy server is failing to start due to a null arg exception in GetAllImageSizes() during the OnStart method
according the this entry in the windows application eventlog --

Service cannot be started. System.ArgumentNullException: Value cannot be null.
Parameter name: source at System.Linq.Enumerable.Where[TSource](IEnumerable`1 source, Func`2 predicate) at tokenServer.JsonImageCache.GetAllImageSizes() at tokenServer.Server.OnStart(String[] args) at System.ServiceProcess.ServiceBase.ServiceQueuedMainCallback(Object state)
