Thanks for looking at this. The backup is on its way.
I can find registry entries for all tuners under HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Media Center\Service\Video\Tuners
Most are under one subkey (guid). I see that the Analog TV tuner is on its own under a separate subkey.
The Ctrl key method works - thanks for the tip.

Thanks. Prior to version 1.6.7.3, I would have picked up on the FM/Analog Tuner but I evidently cleaned up some code there and my registry scan would only pick up the TV tuners. It'll be fixed in next release.

How do I correct a duplicate station ID?
Channels 45, 46 should be Comedy Central, CNBC.
However the lineup is duplicating the station ID CNBC for channel 45.
WMC plays chn 45 correctly (Comedy Central) but has the CNBC guide listing.

I upgraded from epg123 v1.7.0.12 to v1.7.1.4 about 2 weeks ago.
I didn't notice this issue until a few days ago.

The lineup is wrong from Schedules Direct, so you should report a lineup problem with them to have it corrected. In this way you correct it for everyone who uses this lineup, not just yourself.

In addition to this, if you don't want to wait for them to correct it, you may also be able to correct your local lineup by using the EPG123 client tool.

If Comedy Central (CC) is in the lineup at some other place, you can right click on channel 46 and select "Unsubscribe". Click on channel 46 in the left panel to select it and then find CC in the right panel and right click on it and select "Subscribe".

This should associate CC with channel 46.

If CC is NOT in the existing lineup, then it is a little more complicated, as you have to find another lineup in your area that DOES have CC in it (even if it is for another service provider), add it as one of your lineups, then do the same as above, select channel 46 in left panel, and then right click on CC in the right panel (with the new lineup being displayed), and select "Subscribe".

Then when they finally do fix your original lineup, "Unsubscribe" the channel that links to the new lineup, remove the new lineup, then "Subscribe" the channel using the correct lineup.

If you don't need CC right away, and CC does not already exist in the lineup at a different channel position in your current lineup, I would just wait until Schedules Direct fixes the problem so you don't have to go through adding the additional lineup and then removing it later. Of course, if you feel comfortable with doing this or you need CC right away, then go ahead...

EDIT: Also, updating EPG123 should have had nothing to do with this issue, this problem surely existed with the old version of EPG123. I'm guessing this means you don't record or watch much CC, so it will probably not be that big a deal to just wait for Schedules Direct to correct the lineup rather than doing manual remapping.

EDIT2: Looks like there were issues with Cox lineups in other areas as well: https://www.thegreenbutton.tv/forums/vi ... 99&t=13841
It was also completely missing Comedy Central. They fixed it by adding the non-digital lineup for their provider and doing the mapping I mentioned above.

Thanks for this quick response!
I submitted a lineup problem report.
Since CC doesn't appear in the existing lineup I'll wait until SD fixes it, or until my wife complains more...

When I open the EPG123 configuration GUI I get the following in the log:

Code: Select all

[3/29/2022 8:54:13 PM] ===============================================================================
[3/29/2022 8:54:13 PM] Activating the epg123 configuration GUI. version 1.7.1.4

[3/29/2022 8:54:14 PM] [ERROR] Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
and there are no lineups loaded (drop down menu on right is empty and panel is empty).

If I then exit the config GUI it says config has changed, do you want to save it. I select no and it exits.

If I right click the task tray icon and "Update Guide Now" the update runs fine without any problem.

Any ideas on how to troubleshoot or fix this?

EDIT: Note that this is the first time I've ran the GUI since resubscribing to Schedules Direct. So it's been idle for about 2 weeks or so with no updates being made (disabled in Task Scheduler). When I resubbed to SD, I used the task tray icon right click menu to update the guide without a hitch (is was version 1.7.0.12 at the time, but I updated since I was getting the same GUI error message when running the GUI, but it did not fix the issue).

I'm not sure if clearing the cache would help in this situation as it does not even seem to be getting to a stage where it needs the cache and the update seems to work fine without starting the GUI (but not sure).

Could you send your trace.log file to support@garyan2.net?

Did you do anything additional to disabling the scheduled task while your membership was expired?

The trace.log file above is from when I ran the config GUI, there is nothing after those entries. I restarted the EPG123 config GUI several times, so those log entries repeat several times prior to that and then prior to that are the log entries for the update that I initiated through the task tray icon, and I don't see anything unusual there. I will send you the log if you really think it will help, but I don't have access right now.

After the membership expired, I disabled the task directly in task manager and also stopped the EPG123 service from within services.msc about 2 days before I resubbed to SD.

After I resubbed to SD I re-enabled the task in Task Manager and restarted the service from within services.msc. I then initiated a guide update through the right click menu on the task tray icon. The update completed without any errors. I saw in the log that two new channels were mapped to guide data, so I was going to go in to the config GUI to take a look but then I got that error and the lineup was not loaded or populated.

That's all I did related to EPG123.

Just wanted to follow up and let you know that I ran the EPG123 config utility today for the first time since I last tried it (and was having the issue) and it is working fine.

I'm not sure why it was having issues but if I had to guess, it was something to do with the task in Task Scheduler. Note that I have not touched that task since I last ran EPG123 and it was having that issue, so I have no idea why it would have a problem then and not now.

Howdy all - this WARNG anf resulting yellow icon :) is not something that is a bug but did not think worthy of dedicated thread.. since epg123 is zero maintenance I rarely futz w/ anything cuz, yknow.. it just works. What is MXF file again? schedule direct? and do I need to do anything?

You'll have to look further back in the log file to see what created the warning. Your membership doesn't expire for quite a while, so it isn't that.

The mxf file is what epg123 creates for import into WMC, so it is the server component that detects and generates the warning and puts the status in the mxf file.

Been running EPG123 for a couple years now without many issues.

I reinstalled Windows 7 on a new to me machine this weekend. Installed SP1. Installed Ceton drivers. Configured tuner in WMC.

I downloaded latest version of EPG123 to install and I ran into some issues:
1. I see the install software/procedure has changed since I did this last to tell the PC you DO NOT have a internet connection. Ok I followed the step to do that.
1a. Microsoft .net attempts to install during EPG123 install but would not work. I had to manually install separately after EPG123 said it completed (new Windows install effect?).
2. I accepted the program guide terms of use since it doesn't matter with no internet.
3. Install playready step is next. I COULD NOT GET PAST THIS STEP when WMC thinks there is no internet connection. WMC would crash/hang while attempting to contact playready server.
3a. I installed playready using executable from EPG123 website.
3b. I used a much older version of EPG123 1.3.6.10 to install EPG123.

This seemed to work however my channel logos are all gray. How do I get the color logos back? I installed latest version of EPG123 last night and updated guide but didn't fix logo colors. Thanks.

1. Disabling internet connection in WMC allows you to a) agree to the ToS, and b) avoid getting stuck on the downloading headend data for your locale.
1a. Not sure why .NET 4.5 wouldn't install, I'll have to check that out. You can of course install 4.5 - 4.8 prior to EPG123 and then it wouldn't try to install with the embedded package.
2. check
3. Question related to #1, it is possible/probable that though you told WMC you did not have always on connection, if you close WMC, open it back up, and start a TV Setup, WMC will "reenable" that setting. It is weird, not easy to explain, but it only works as expected if you disable the internet connection prior to performing TV Setup within the same WMC session. It will keep the setting continually after that up until the point you run a TV Setup again. This may be why it attempted to download/install PlayReady. If you need DCM/PlayReady, I suggest to install it prior to performing a TV Setup.
3a. check
3b. Why if you had already installed the latest?

For logos, check what your logo preference is and then run an update again.

Thanks for the response Gary.
I chose to use the older EPG123 executable as it skips the internet always on yes/no question. I declined program terms of use like the old procedure stated to do. This let me get through the TV setup in WMC after playready installed separately.
I can't get the color logos to show up no matter which setting I pick:

Select 'logos for dark backgrounds' and click [Save & Execute] to download the colored logos.

If you want to see what logos are available, and what logos are already downloaded, in the configuration GUI click a logo. https://garyan2.github.io/logos.html

For the new installation method, the instructions say you "can" agree to the ToS, but it is not required to do so. Some folks may just find it easier to do so. So you can install/setup with the latest version of epg123 and still deny the ToS like before.

I tried the "logos for dark backgrounds", save and execute 3 times. Still gray or black and white.

I can chose the color logos in the EPG configurator and they appear in the preview screen.

I uninstalled EPG123. Installed latest version again. Ran installer. Still can't fix logos. Everything else working.

Now I've lost my logos altogether. Below are screenshots of what I'm seeing. My theory is the initial install of EPG123 with .net NOT installed/failed goofed up my guide logos. I may have to reinstall Windows 7 or WMC at this point. Usually I get the color logos right away without doing anything special.

No, you don't need to wipe everything out. I'll have to look at the code to see if there is a reason it would not download the color logos, but in the meantime, as an experiment, rename the epg123 \logos folder to \logos_old, open the configuration gui, select logos for dark, and then save and execute.

Is there anything in your log file to indicate a problem?
