Guide not updating

#1

Post by bros » Thu Feb 23, 2023 4:12 am

Hey - I noticed my guide isn't updating. Any idea what is up? I have Verizon FiOS in Central NJ. I am guessing it is somethin to do with my channels, based on the error there, what would I do to correct it? I updated EPG123 a month or so ago, and nothing has changed with my FiOS plan.

Open the configuration GUI and click [Save & Execute]. Looks like some channels changed and exceeded the sanity check limit for missing stations. A save with rebaseline the count and allow it to proceed.

Gary,

It appears that if you have a certain percentage of channels removed from the lineup since the last "save" it will prevent the guide update.

Shouldn't this instead be if you have a certain percentage of channels removed during THAT update, that it will prevent the guide from updating?

I believe the reason for this is to avoid any major all-at-once changes to the lineup (most likely an incorrect update) from messing up the guide, but having channels removed from the guide over multiple days or over several months probably should not prevent the guide from successfully updating. If 3 channels are removed in December, 3 in January, and 4 in February, it should not act as if all 10 channels were removed in the same update for purposes of blocking the update.

So instead of preventing the update if the total channel number drops by a certain percent since the last save, it should prevent the update if that same drop happens during a SINGLE update. I'm not sure if there was a reason for doing it the way it is now, but perhaps it is just related to the highlighting of new channels since the last save feature (which is a great feature that should not change), and it was easier to implement the "block update" to be related to this other feature.

Nothing is going to change. EPG123 doesn't know when or why a station is no longer available, only that it is unavailable when it performs an update.

Thanks! I've been having the same exact error the past couple days. After I forced an update today, it finally worked, but gave me a warning. A Save & Execute put everything back to normal.

I'm getting the same message now ([ERROR] Of the expected 75 stations to download, there are only 70). Is there any way to tell that the missing stations are? When I log into the configuration GUI, I see 71 stations listed. One of them is highlighted red (I assume that is one of the 5 "missing" stations). I'd like to know what the other 4 are if possible. Is there any way to tell?

Minor enhancement request: To tell how many stations were actually listed, I had to manually count. Would it be possible to add an index column or a status line at the bottom containing the total number listed and the total number checked?

The red (actually salmon) is a station added to your lineup since you last saved your configuration file. To know what stations have been removed, look at your log file. To reset the station count and get by the sanity check, just open the configuration gui and click [Save].

Have you updated EPG123 in case that is the issue?

I was running 1.8.1.6 and just updated to 1.8.1.8. It's not an issue with EPG123 at all. Just normal lineup changes as mentioned above.
