Guide not updating and Configuration GUI all grayed out. Help!

[martyHTPC]

My guide stopped updating after 10/22 and I can't get my Configuration GUI to open properly. Everything is grayed out...with nothing populated and it eventually comes back with Login Failed: Did not receive a response from Schedules Direct for a token request. It's not my SD account as I'm paid through Mar 2023 and account status shows active on their site . Any help would be most appreciated. I did a backup and and a Rebuild WMC database. BTW this is on a running for years Windows 7 pro 64-bit Media Center installation. Below is a small extract from the log file Errors basically the same from the last date in the log through to today, just more of the same.

Not sure if this is your problem, but it is always a good idea to NOT schedule your updates to happen on the hour like you have it configured. Change it to run at "4:20" or "4:40" or some other time not ending in ":00" instead of "4:00".

The reason for this is that most people DO have it set to a time ending in ":00" so that means many try to connect at the same exact time, which puts a burden on the server that can result in timeouts for some of those connections.

Well I can certainly change that but even when I try to do a manual guide update anytime throughout the day it fails so I don't think that's the underlying cause of my problem. Once I can get a working guide update, I'll change it to a non-standard random early morning update schedule like you suggest. Thanks.

So what happened between 10/22 and 10/23? It looks like it cannot contact SD over the internet. Could be your firewall.

Nothing to my knowledge and like I said, prior to posting this request I went to the SD site on the WMC PC and logged in and verified my account is active. Thus clearly having having access to the internet. Unless there is something particular that I'm not aware of in accessing SD from EPG. Also, did you have any thoughts on why my EPG Configuration GUI is all grayed out and unpopulated except for my SD username and password and that errors out with the not getting a token from SD

Having internet, and the EPG123 executable epg123.exe having access to the internet are 2 different things. That's why I suggested it may have to do with a firewall. Something is blocking you.

The rest of the GUI won't become active until you successfully login.

Another possibility... a user recently could contact SD but couldn't negotiate a secure connection. All that was required to fix that was rebooting his router. Though your failure mode is different the fix action could be the same.

The fix was exactly the same. Rebooting my router corrected everything. Configuration GUI working properly and my Guide is up to date. Thanks again for the assist and the kick in the right direction. Sorry I had to bother everyone for such a simple solution.
