Update your EPG123 version!

Heads up, everyone.

There has been a change in how SD will allow access to certain endpoints in their API. This will impact anyone running an EPG123 version prior to v1.7.1.8.

If you are running any EPG123 version prior to v1.7.1.8 then you will no longer be able to get links to program images.

Image links don't appear to be working. I see a whole bunch of TMDb queries and almost no TV series/episode images at all after updating to v1.7.1.8 and running an update. I made the mistake of clearing the cache to see if that helped, but no, it just sent way too many queries to TMDb without improving anything. So don't do that.

Sorry, I should have been clearer. Updating to the latest version does not fix the current problem of downloading images from SD (viewtopic.php?f=99&t=13994). Once SD puts into production their new code to address that issue, you will need at least v1.7.1.8 to be able to retrieve the links to then download the images.

And yes, with the current issue it is a bad idea to clear your cache.

I am running EPG version 1.6.2.8. Starting 9/30/2022 EPG is showing the big red x TV logo lafter daily TV guide update.
The TV Guide ends on 10/16/2022 6PM after this morning's failed download.

Will upgrade to 1.7.1.8 solve the problem?

All my programs, both TV shows and movies have images in the guide. The last "Not found" error in the server.log was on 9/27, since then no errors.

On a related note, Gary, do you know if SD ever re-enabled the update that they had to back out of a while ago? It was supposed to allow more frequent updates from their provider.

No, those updates are still on the development side. SD has been focusing on the image issues for a couple months now. I don't know what the plan is for the other updates...

Just a note, maybe of interest, maybe not. Have had red icon for a week now (old vers. 1.3.0.0) but as of last night guide info out all the way to to October 19th so seems like it is updating after all or at least adding some guide data. Expect to upgrade to Vers 1.7.1.8 this weekend.

That's strange. Old versions of EPG123 would abort an update on this error, but newer versions would allow the failure to get image links and complete an update for guide listings at least. Check your log to see if there are errors downloading images. If not, then SD may have turned off their requirement for a token in the request temporarily.

Installed the latest update. It seems to be ok, but does not look like it overwrote some of the files even though everything was extracted to same folder , Programs 86.. Can't I just delte them and also the new setup file since install is a one time deal?

That's because the portable version does not include the notification tray program, nor the proxy/cache service for program images. Run the installation package to update all the programs.

If you updated your .NET framework, I don't see why it would have a problem connecting with SSL/TLS 1.2. I would not "install" the portable version unless you have a specific reason/scenario to do so. Try installing EPG123 with the install package and see if that corrects the issue.

Is there a guide for upgrading? I have version 1.3.5.0 and I'm really at a loss as to how to upgrade. I installed a new version but the old version is still the one that is running.

When the installer asked where you wanted to install it, you needed to point it to your existing folder containing epg123. You can either uninstall epg123 and install it again making sure it goes to your existing folder, or you can move your existing epg123.cfg file into c:\programdata\garyan2\epg123. You should also delete your current scheduled task and create a new one once all that is straightened out.

Thanks for your reply. As suggested, I used the "setup" v1.7.1.12 installer to install to the folder I've been using. The epg123 installation had been working correctly until 9/30/22.

I have confirmed that .NET framework v4.8.03761 is installed.

I am still unable to get updates from SD. The new log file is below.

After again trying to update the schedule, I ran the configuration utility and attempted to log into SD. I checked and successfully confirmed the SD credentials by using them to log directly into the SD website. Still no success logging into SD using the configuration utility, as you can see from the log. Subsequently, I attempted to create a new installation in a new folder but the installer does not give the option to pick a new folder now.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I don't think it is your install or the .NET framework that is causing this. What is not shown in the log file is that prior to requesting a token from Schedules Direct, it contacts GitHub to determine the latest EPG123 version available using SSL/TLS 1.2 without a problem. I think this might be specific to the Schedules Direct API and your machine.

Are you using a VPN?
