EPG123 stopped working with HDHomeRun

#1

Post by drfsupercenter » Mon Jan 31, 2022 9:40 pm

A few weeks ago, my EPG mysteriously stopped working.

I am still subscribed to the SiliconDust DVR service, my account is valid until April 2022.

However, every time I try to run the hdhr2mxf task, I get this:

Code: Select all

I think SiliconDust is doing something with their website, because I was getting some "page under construction" messages when clicking around too. But does this mean I'm SOL?

I signed up for a 7 day trial of Schedules Direct. But I am already paying for HDHR, this is absurd!

Yah, looks like they've been changing a few things. Download version 1.7.1.2 which addresses all the changes (so far).

So, it kind of half works now, but...

Image

I tried running HDHR2MXF like 5 times, several reboots, but yet only half the stations get listings.

I think maybe whatever I was doing with Schedules Direct and the actual EPG123 main program (which I had never used before today's tinkering) is messing it up? Can I reset all of that so it *just* pulls from the HDHR and nowhere else? I don't know why else it would only get half the channels.

Try opening the client, select the HDHR2MXF lineup on the right side, and then click the Match by: [# Number] button above the left side channel list.

See if that gets everything back for you using SiliconDust listings.

So, it seems to have worked for all the channels I get, but there are still a few random channels in there with "no data available" that have been removed from my lineup. When checking on the HDHR app, those channels are missing.

I guess I could just remove them in the client? To be honest, before yesterday I never touched the main EPG123 or client. I just installed it, and used the HDHR2MXF program. I think I screwed something up by adding Schedules Direct, I can't even find a way to log out.

No, you didn't mess anything up that's not recoverable. Just go back in the client, select the EPG123 lineup you imported from the main GUI, and click the red 'X' to the right of the lineup pulldown. This will remove the Schedules Direct lineup from the database. Any channels they have been mapped to will be unmapped and disabled in the guide.

Ok I got it, still not sure how to get my SD account out of there, and also in WMC there's a little EPG123 icon now that shows up randomly? Never had that before.

Should I just uninstall and reinstall?

The easiest way to get rid of the status logo is open the client, click the [Tweak WMC] and change the option to 'None' for the 'WMC Start Menu Status Logo'.

Not sure what you mean by "get my SD account out of there"...

Thank you! 1.7.1.2 resolved the 308 error for us.
Note to others - 1.7.1.2 currently (2/1/2022) is available via beta release link.
I wasn't paying attention first time and downloaded 1.7.1.0 release.

See how it won't let me log out? Once the trial expires it'll probably complain that I need to renew or something. Before I entered it in, there were blank boxes for username/password.

Yah, there is no logout. If you are not going to use the EPG123/Schedules Direct path, and keep using HDHR2MXF, it really doesn't matter. Having that account info stored isn't going to do anything.

If you really want to "reset" the Schedules Direct side epg123, then all you have to do is delete the c:\programdata\garyan2\epg123\epg123.cfg file.

Having recently switched to Silicondust, I deleted the file as mentioned:
"If you really want to "reset" the Schedules Direct side epg123, then all you have to do is delete the c:\programdata\garyan2\epg123\epg123.cfg file"
due to errors in the log as it continued to try accessing an expired SD account. I'd also been having issues with it downloading guide data - presumably due to he SD access issue.

I did a manual tray guide update and it took. Still wondering about a three error messages in the log though [below in bold].

Also, given one tuner of a HDHR dual[very old model] is more prone to showing a low [yellow] Signal Strength % than the other tuner, what's the significance? I'm wondering if issues with channels not getting recorded all the way through is due to a tuner going bad or I need to take another stab at alignment of the antenna. WIth so many changes to the OTA broadcasting and my setup [antenna, coax, new HDHR 4K Flex, re-aligning new antenna in "new" location, new HDHR firmware, new HDHR software, new program guide... if I may have dropped the ball along the way. EPG123 has also given me some weird messages when going through setup surrounding the number of tuners detected; it said I had more [likely due to an older HDHR that went bad and was removed] and then Windows only found 8 of 10; I manually told MCE setup to accept the other two it knew about, but didn't count in the 10.

The timeouts are from trying to connect to one of your devices. It is not getting a response from that device.

The other error appears to be a problem with your task. In the client, when you created the task, is the task pointing to epg123.exe instead of hdhr2mxf.exe?

I hate auto logout as I compose my responses. Anyway.
Yes, I was pointing to incorrect file - now fixed. Thank you.

As our aged WMC7 PC has had some regarding issues - though perhaps improved somewhat - the last 6 months, is there a way to determine which tuners are not providing a response which reveal potential root causes. I didn't see anything obvious in any of the EPG123 subdirectory logs. In particular, I know that the WMC setup found 8 of 10 tuners and I forced the remaining two [one tuner on each of two devices]. EPG123 found 12 tuners - possibly reflecting a dead SiliconDust Quatro removed sometime ago. Plus, I may have damaged a coax input on a Dual during removal which required a wrench rather than simply unscrewing. Or it could be the new attic antenna alignment requires a bit more tweaking - at the very least optimizing reception for our most watched stations. Thank you.
