@garyan2
This is interesting!
I have had a problem recently where programmes record and play in catch-up but I get a blank screen and then a message saying there's no signal when using Live TV from the menu or clicking on a current programme in the guide.
If I use the shortcut you provided, it works perfectly.
I know I'm not the first person to have this problem, but I've never had it before. I assumed that something had got corrupted in an update and was going to uninstall and reinstall to see if it helped.
You have saved me the trouble until the next major update.
Thanks!

The Tweak tool that comes with EPG123 allows you to increase/decrease the size of text in the program guide, but not sure how to increase the font size in the rest of the areas.paulcarrm9mx wrote: ↑Mon Oct 31, 2022 8:44 pm Hi, which software would I need to make WMC ui text bigger to read from 6ft away cheers.

I've finally decided to migrate from Windows 7 to Windows 10 so have been reading this thread with interest.
Am I right in thinking that, if you follow the instructions to disable "always on internet" or change the registry settings, then there is no issue with using EPG Collector?

Sorry, one last question - what’s the situation with allowing windows updates?
- Should I turn off all updates?
- Or can I allow them to be installed?
- Or should I be really selective about the updates that are allowed to be installed?

The choice is yours but as Windows 10 only has 3yrs left I'd let it install.updates Gary did say rerun setup to repair the program if or when updates break wmc.

Same here... My windows 7 PC is starting to run very poorly and i'm going to retire it. I have all but moved onto HDHomerun DVR but still need to use Windows 7 to record sports events on fox sports 1 that have the Copy flag on FIOS.

Absolutely Fantastic! IT WORKS!! I've been trying (off and on) for nearly five years to get WMC to install and operate in Win10, with zero luck... and then suddenly remembered Green Button, once again. And I almost immediately found this post and downloaded the MSI package. Then last night I installed it on an existing Windows 10 21H2 HTPC which also held one of my old Hauppauge HVR-2255 dual tuner PCIe cards in place. Yeah, this is an old tuner card, but it still works(!). Of course to this point I had only Hauppauge's WinTV-10, which (as has always been the case) made tuning between channels an experience in frustration. Slower than - well, I won't go there... but it was too slow, to say the least (bearing in mind that I ALSO still have an old Win7 HTPC with a Hauppauge WinTV QuadHD PCIe card SOLELY to be allowed to use WMC and that I use nightly...). But being the person am, I just had to try this under Win10 once more, and was amazed to find that with THIS package, it installed quickly with virtually no issues. And to my amazement, it all works VERY well!
Sure, I had to do a 'manual' WMC tuner setup from the package, and complete the EPG123 setup, but after THIS amount of time (?)...I was intent on making this work. Now I can FINALLY abandon Windows 7 and still enjoy the ability to tune and record 4 channels at once, AND move to Windows 10.
GARYAN2, you are to be commended on your efforts. Thank you sir..!

Hi Thanks you for your work on this.
I had a 10 year old Windows 7 machine with HD Homerun network tuner that was still going fine though I noted the TV randomly jagging and even slightly freezing so thought a new computer may help. I like WMC, as still a TV person and particularly like the screensaver slideshow.
So this topic gave me the confidence to upgrade with a Intel 12series NUC and it worked fine first off without any issues thanks.
However when I took it to the loungeroom and realised the Intel graphics drivers weren't installed to get HDMI audio, after doing this I had the full screen freezing issue. There doesn't seem to be a resolution for this other than luck?
Also the live and recorded TV issue still remains. In the HD Homerun app the TV display is perfect so it appears to be a WMC issue.
Having had no attention for more than 10 years, WMC presumably struggles with newer graphics drivers and possibly even network/storage drivers.
So will persist with it for a little while as I unfortunately wonder what the replacement will be.

I don't have issues with my MCE videos and have the following configuration:
Intel i3 7350K Kaby Lake and DDR4 16GB
Asrock H170M-ITX/DL Bios P7.10
Not watching Live, using MCE as a recorder- no frozen frames in the converted MP4 files
Not using KDMI out using motherboard speaker out
HomeRun 3 channel with CableCard
W10 1511 build 10586.0
Nivida GTX 750 Ti driver 3/23/18 23.21.13.9135 (I cannot update to the latest nivida driver because W10 1511 doesn't boot)
EPG123 Version: 1.7.3.0 (Electronic Programming Guide $25/yr) - Great product and support
MCEBuddy 2.5.7 (removes commercials and stores converted video in mp4) uses 750 Ti GPU hardware
As a side note: My wife an ardent anglophile loves watching the Royal Weddings during the days of W7 with MCE.
The previous MCE was on an AMD Phnenom II FX8350 (?) and was able to handle three OTA 1080 HD signals (tuner card) and three Homerun cablecard channels simultaneously. Only one ne hiccup and lost one channel at the end of the wedding ceremony.
I did abc, cbs, nbc, fox, bbc, and sky channels. I think each channel recorded 4GB per hour or 24GB per hour for 6 channels.
I ended up with 250GB that day for that 10hour MCE stress test.
I just did a cpu comparison:
https://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/I ... 3889vs1489
I think u may have a driver issue. Maybe u need to go back to older hardware.

Thanks for your thoughts Patrick.
You certainly stress tested your system. My 10 year old i3 system was fine performance wise but starting to do a few odd things with power so I thought time to upgrade, could only help!
After 20 years of HTPCs which have been good I just want something that works now and WMC is only going to get more difficult to do that unfortunately. Hopefully something else has a screensaver slideshow as good.

My WMC runs on Intel Skull Canyon NUC paired with a HDHomeRun Flex 4K tuner. The HTPC is running Win10 22H2. Thanks to all the contributors maintaining WMC for Win10, it has been working very well for several years.
Recently, I bought a NUC12WSHi5 to upgrade my HTPC. I first installed Win11 Pro 22H2 and Gary’s WMC .msi package. WMC basically worked. But when I channel-surf in Live TV, WMC screen would freeze, sometimes restart, or just exit. I re-installed Windows to Win10 Pro 22H2. The problem persists. I tried K-Lite Codec Pack and the Codec Tweak Tool. That didn’t help.
After spending the whole weekend testing, I am convinced that the culprit is the driver for Intel Iris Xe graphics or its interaction with Microsoft Media Foundation, because HDHomeRun app works flawlessly. Does anyone know how to report issues like this to Intel?

Seems to me there was an Intel incompatibility issue reported recently. If I find it I'll link it here.
