Guide update shows red icon in system tray
I have been using epg123 for some time now without issue. Within the past 6 months I've been getting warnings that the update had an issue. The icon on the bottom right of my desktop is red. If I open epg123, select 'clear cache and save' and then run an update it completes without any issues. On the next scheduled update the issue returns.
Trying to attach my log file I get:
Invalid file extension: trace.log
any help is appreciated

You can send the complete file to support@garyan2.net, or you can post relevant contents showing any ERRORs in your log file here using the </> button.
Have you looked at the log file? For most failures, there should be an entry with [ERROR], and a description of the failure. The fact that it runs fine when you do a [Save & Execute] points to something external to EPG123.

I'll read through it and see what I find. Thanks for the quick reply.

ERROR: epg123.mxf does not exist
Should I create that in my program files?

I take it you are in client mode and grapping the mxf file over the network? If so, you will have to modify your scheduled task in Task Scheduler to add the appropriate user and password.
If not, did you move the epg123 location?

I don't have a network set up for my htpc as there is only this one pc. I think when I ran an upgrade of epg123 a while back I included the client package. Could that be the issue?

I'm a little confused about your setup. You have EPG123 and WMC both on the same machine correct? The client is necessary to import listings into the WMC database and it is was is feeding the tray icon the status indirectly. If you open the client, the 'Full Mode' radio button should be select in the top right of the GUI.

I think there might be something wrong with your scheduled task. It might be pointing to the wrong location of the epg123.mxf. It is probably pointing to c:\epg123\epg123.mxf rather than c:\epg123\output\epg123.mxf.
I used to detect this in code ([epg123]\epg123.mxf was the old location it was saved to) but I believe I took that out recently. The fix is to delete your current task and create another. I would also suggest changing your scheduled update time to something that is not on-the-hour or half-hour. A lot of folks do the on-the-hour updates and there is a bit of congestion trying to download from Schedules Direct.

I changed my scheduled update to 04:17. I'll see over the next few days how things go.
Again, thank you for your help.
