I have just set up my first HTPC. Yesterday, October 9, I downloaded the My Channel Logos lite. It installed fine on Windows 8 64-bit, but after the program downloaded the logos, it crashed, and every time since it crashes immediately. I was not expecting this behavior from the description on the download web page that indicates the Windows 8 limitations. Is this expected? From reading this forum, I now get the impression that the only working Windows 8 version is a newer version that the author is only giving to user that paid. If I read this correctly, the paid functionality, like adjusting the grid, no longer works on Windows 8, and you now have to pay to get the lite version on Windows 8. Is this the new policy?

I sent an e-mail yesterday to support at mychannellogos . com about getting another copy (I had previously donated, but lost the installation file). Did that make it through?

@bbq_bob, unfortunately, the lite version is not available for windows 8 at the current time. I'm sorry for the confusion. I will clarify the website.
@nate, yes, it made it through. email sent.

Wow, that was a fast turn around, thanks! Staring at the stock guide for a day was more than enough - was really missing My Channel Logos.

Don't get used to it ... I have a day job. (Well, a night job at the moment, but you get the idea)NNate wrote:Wow, that was a fast turn around, thanks! Staring at the stock guide for a day was more than enough - was really missing My Channel Logos.

I started using Media Center Themer to apply a custom theme to WMC, and it seems like the settings to add rows to the guide and mini-guide don't work anymore. I'm only getting 7 rows in the guide and 2 in the mini guide. I've tried changing the sliders in MCL, but it won't show any additional rows when I click preview, and save won't change it either. Is anybody else having this problem?

My Windows 7 HTPC was previously running 32bit Windows, and now I've upgraded to Windows 8 x64 on the same machine. I can't get the update file from Program Files\whateverhwatever, because the version doesn't match. Do I need to contact you with my PayPal transaction info to get a copy of the most recent 64 bit build?

I had the same problem. Uninstall/re-install of MCL fixed it. Just had to pick my custom logos again.RyC wrote:I started using Media Center Themer to apply a custom theme to WMC, and it seems like the settings to add rows to the guide and mini-guide don't work anymore. its the biggest frustration with MCL in my opinion, that you cannot "backup" in any way the assignment of logos to channels. the time i have spent reassigning logos after rebuilds is significant. it seems that properly named logos could be easily auto-matched by MCL?

Here are some instructions to get your custom logos to work on a new computer:
1) Go to the folder C:\programdata\mychannellogos\logos\custom
2) Rename all of these logos with an _c at the end. (logo.png becomes logo_c.png)
3) Install MCL on the new PC
4) Copy the folder C:\programdata\mychannellogos\logos\ onto a new PC at the same folder address
5) Go into MCL, and update logos in the settings tab
6) Copy the logos on your new computer from C:\programdata\mychannellogos\logos\custom into C:\programdata\mychannellogos\logos\color
7) Go to the Logos tab, and click Autopopulate.
8) If you don’t want those logos to automatically update every week if I put out new logos, in the Settings tab, find each logo that was ‘custom’ and set it as a Locked Logo.

I love the channel logos. I'd definitely buy this app if it was fully compatible for Windows 8. Right now, it crashes every time I try to load it.
Can you sell it in the Windows Store? That would make everything really easy.

If I understand it correctly...version 2.30 is exclusively for the donators, and is not available for free download?

That's correct. There is nothing new in Version 2.3 that would have been available in the MCL Lite version.
