If you have all the same equipment except the motherboard as your original, satisfactory configuration, maybe a name brand USB PCI card is worth exploring. They are cheap, so it is a low cost gamble.

Intel suggests this set of Troubleshooting Tools.

I have never had to troubleshoot USB3-USB2-USB1 problems, but if I had to do that today, I think I would start with Microsoft Message Analyzer.

Hi,
I think that I have an update.
The system has been working for about two and a half days for now without crapping out.
I did two things, got a new TA from Cox and installed the Windows hotfixes listed in this thread: http://www.thegreenbutton.tv/forums/vie ... =68&t=9380
I suspect that the fix is the first of the three hotfixes, the 'kernel hotfix' as the system behavior as a whole was impacted when the USB problem was showing up.
I will keep watch over this, and hopefully this fix is real and not an illusion.
Thanks for all of your suggestions.
Regards.

sorry to revive an old thread but im having this same issue with my motorola tuning adapter on cox on windows 7. i leave it unplugged from usb and my pc acts normal. if i plug it in its just blinks constantly and never actually goes solid and my pc will hang on reboots and shutdowns eventually rebooting with a driver_power_state_failure blue screen error, wmc will hang and freeze on exiting and just have continuous usability issues. any help would be appreciated.
