Windows 8: Why aren't bridged networks supported?

Does anyone know the reason for not supporting bridged networks in windows 8?

My guess would be that Microsoft has made the decision to restrict network bridging. Network bridging essentially makes your PC into a router. There are security trade-offs with that. Apparently, M$ has made the decision for you to block that possibility.

Thanks, for your reply. I imagined it was along those lines but the message on ceton's site was pretty vague. It's just hard to believe they would completely toss network bridging in win8. Yet another reason not to upgrade wmc boxes to win 8 I guess. Even though I actually kind of like it.

By the way, can you change the subject line of your post?

Networked Tuners ARE supported (both the Ceton tuners and the SiliconDust tuners present to Media Center as Networked tuners). It's Network Bridging that Ceton has said won't be supported in Windows 8. It would be helpful to avoid confusing other people coming to the forums if you updated the subject line of your post to reflect that.

Correct, I re-confirmed again, just like @foxwood said it is the "network bridging" that is not supported.

Changed. I can see how my wording could confuse folks. Yes, ceton's & other networked tuner cards work fine in windows 8. You just aren't able to assign tuners to other computers over a network anymore.

Is this a permanent thing? Or just a stumbling block that needs a work around?
