I suppose we should eliminate the router as being part of the problem. From any (wired not wireless) computer on the same LAN as your HTPC, go to http://checkmyports.net/ and enter 5832. What are the results? Do not post your external IP address.haleedog wrote:Is anyone else having problems connecting remotely to My Media Center with their LG G3 phone? I am on Sprint network, and can not connect. Works fine over wifi, but not on the data LTE network.

Thanks for responding, the issue is not with my router or firewall. I verified all of your suggestions and everything looks like it should. One difference that I noticed when checking the Windows Firewall with Advanced Security, is I did not have the Ceton CData (CDataPublisher-1) only have Ceton CData (CDataPublisher-In). Also, I have no other security on my HTPC than Windows Security Essentials. My router is the Verizon Actiontec MI424WR. Any other suggestions? I think there is an with the LG G3 as others have posted issues.

Are you saying that you ran this and 5832 definitely says open?Crash2009 wrote:I suppose we should eliminate the router as being part of the problem. Are you saying that you ran this? What I need is a word for word of what the log says or a screen cap like I asked for originally.Crash2009 wrote:The 2nd thing I would check would be on the HTPC inside My Media Center Config/About/Diagnostic/Start Diagnostic Test.
What results do you get? Screen Capture preferred.

The MMC app does not work outside of your network out of the box. Forgive me but, may I ask if you did indeed go into your router settings and forward the necessary port(s)?

It hasn't been mentioned, only assumed, that's why I ask.

Crash2009 wrote:^ Exactly. Ports forwarded, or not, would show in the diagnostics, as well as anything else missing.
Yes, I have verified that port 5832 is forwarding in the Router settings. The Diagnostic says port forwarding is set up correctly as well. This worked previously on my HTC Evo just fine, Nothing has changed other than my phone.

I dis-agree. I believe the router's firewall is blocking your phone. When your phone is connected with wifi, you are allowed in because you are all ready inside the firewall. When you turn off the wifi connection on your phone, and switch to the LTE network the phone has a different IP, and is now on the other side of the firewall.haleedog wrote: the issue is not with my router or firewall.
Sometimes routers need a kick in the a__. Give yours a cold boot (AKA power cycle). If that doesn't work, remove the existing port forwards, cold boot it again, re-do the port forwards, click apply, and cold boot again.

Another thing you can check in the router is Advanced Filtering

There might be an "Allow Rule" for your old phone. Add a new "allow" for your new phone. Go to checkmyports to see what is the IP of your phone when it is on the LTE network.

thanks Crash for trying to help. I have tried the cold reboot and the Advanced Filtering, there were no rules, I did try adding rules with the IP found on checkmyports via my LTE Netorwork, but still it does not work.

As far as I can see you only have 3 choices.
1- Wait for somebody to figure it out and post it. that could take 6 months.
2- Get a router a couple years old, that others have all ready written the Tips and Tricks.
3- Figure it out yourself.
Yours is the 2nd one this week. I am done with that router, until I have one in my hands. It seems that you and the other guy go in the router to do something, and you come out "BrainWashed" or "ShellShocked". Admittedly it does look pretty tough, but it has some nice features, and it appears to be very secure.

This is what you get when you have a company router (Fios, Comcast, Etc. ). They can control you any way they want.
They put the leash on ya, take you for a walk, and won't let you run.
Get your own router. A couple years old, Asus or Netgear.

I just tested the My Media Center app on my wife's phone older LG phone with a physical keyboard and it connects just fine out of our network and on the LTE mobile network. I am now convinced that it is an issue with the LG G3, and not my router.

Finally, I have been waiting for confirmation that the router is forwarding correctly.haleedog wrote:I just tested the My Media Center app on my wife's phone older LG phone with a physical keyboard and it connects just fine out of our network and on the LTE mobile network.
