Intel RST Update breaks DRM

#1

I have a NUC6i5SYH that has been running solid for a few years now as my main WMC machine. I occasionally install driver updates without issue. After quite some time, I installed a number of available driver updates. When complete, protected channels would not play, nor would any previously recorded protected content.

I thought, ok I know installing too many updates at once might break drm since the system might think it's now in a new machine. I rolled back and everything worked. Then I installed each driver update 1 by 1.

Everything was fine until I got to an update for Intel Rapid Storage Technology. This was definitely what broke everything. After installing, no protected content would play, and Play Ready needed to be reinstalled, along with another run off Digital Cable Advisor. Afterwords, live content would play again, but all previous recordings were of course broken.

Another rollback of just that driver update fixed everything.

So everything is working at this point, but I cannot update RST. No problem leaving it alone. Anyone else seen the same, or successfully solved this problem?
