Browser unupported O/S nag

#1

Post by IT Troll » Sun Mar 05, 2023 10:29 am

Chromium web browsers now feature a persistent warning banner about use on unsupported operating system when launched on Windows 7 and 8.
I wouldn't recommend using an old O/S for heavy web browsing, but the banner can be annoying if streaming video.
It can be permanently disabled with the following registry settings.

Code: Select all

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Edge]
"SuppressUnsupportedOSWarning"=dword:00000001

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Google\Chrome]
"SuppressUnsupportedOSWarning"=dword:00000001

Does Microsoft Edge support 8.1 ? Didn't test that but, it is based on Chrome so it might solve the issue.

I know it did...

Not any more. That is why there is a registry setting to disable the nag.
